Redknapp: We've Made No Wickham Offer
Redknapp: We've Made No Wickham Offer
Saturday, 2nd Apr 2011 07:27

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp says his club is yet to make an offer for Town striker Connor Wickham and wouldn’t pay what he says is the Blues’ asking price of £10 million. The North Londoners continue to be tipped to make a summer move for the 18-year-old.

Redknapp said: “I don't think we made an offer for Connor Wickham. I think they're talking about £10 million for him. I wouldn't see us spending £10 million on him.”

Reports on Thursday again claimed that Spurs would offer the Blues £15 million for the frontman in the summer, while boss Paul Jewell said he was hopeful that the England U21 international would remain at Portman Road.

Well Harry is keen to keep it a low profile then. A bid will come in soon.

I wouldn't trust a word Redknapp says regarding transfer moves because I've seen him on SSN numerous times says he "wouldn't lie" and that he wasn't after a player only to find out a few hours later (in one case in particular) that he was in fact after said player.

Well if tax-avoiding, bung-taking Harry Rednapp says this, it must be true, mustn't it?

I really hope we keep Connor, but if we did get, say, £15M for him, which is quite unlikely, he would have to sell as we could invest in a whole new side for that and players who would get us promoted.

We shouldn't sell for less than 13 Million. If they offer less just keep him for another year. I can see Spurs making a stupid bid of about 5 Million, A bit like when they offered 500K for Phil Neville, Altough Spurs make big profile signings they are very careful how they part with there cash. 8 Million for Van Der Vaart, 15 Million for Wickham doesnt quite add up. Can't see them bidding no where near what we want.

Typical big club attitude from Spurs.

You pay what we require or go away. Hate to bring Norwich into it, but they have found out recently that you can't just name your price and expect the smaller club to accept it with Mackail-Smith and Peterborough.

Even mentioning it, is the start of the obvious tapping up that will happen this summer to put the pressure on the agent to pressure on us to reduce the price etc.

Some people are unbelievable. What do you want harry to say? No one is going to spend 10 million quid on the boy because he isn't worth it yet. Wickham will be ours next season no doubt.

Garv - Carroll isn't worth £35 million either, but once that price is paid the precedent is set and this filters down lower too.

His price is whatever we deem it to be. If clubs don't pay it we don't sell.

All this speculation regarding Wickham value being, 10-15 million is way off the mark. I very much doubt any offer will be above 5 million with the possibility of some add on's.

Tractor Man, the price will only filter down if you have the nous to negotiate it.

On current form the most likely scenario is that we'll hang on to him and, if we donlt ruin him first, we'll either be seeing him walk once his latest contract is up or go for a pittance 6 months beforehand

Spurs will follow way of Portsmouth, soujthampton and west ham ..... Broke!

How can spurs keep up the spending and wages they pay? Simple they can't and bubble will burst.

HR can go n take long walk off Felixstowe pier

10 million is a joke, if thats true. there is no point selling him for anything less than 15. He's better off here. Better for him. better for us.

lets not forget, if the case against 'Arry 'n' co. goes ahead at the Old Bailey, and they are found guilty, it is highly likely that they will be made an example of and given custodial sentences...... so Spurs might be after BFP as well as connor then :p

He doesn't 'think' he made a bid - sounds like he did then! Sadly, I think Wickham will go!
