Delaney: Keane Unreasonable
Delaney: Keane Unreasonable
Saturday, 4th Jun 2011 14:33

Defender Damien Delaney says “unreasonable boss” Roy Keane was why he was clocked travelling at 44mph in a 30 zone in his Audi A5 in Tuddenham Road on October 15th last year. The Irishman was fined £235, given four points on his licence and ordered to pay costs of £100 at South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

In a letter of mitigation, Delaney, who pleaded guilty by post, says he was anxious not to be late for training with former manager Roy Keane well-known for his tough attitude towards tardiness: “The reason I was going too fast was because I was late for work.

“I had an unreasonable boss at the time who would not accept lateness and would not have listened to me. I was worried that I was going to be fined two weeks’ wages.”

In December, Town dismissed claims of a fall-out between the pair, while Delaney later said he had no issue with his fellow Cork man.

The 29-year-old, who has been capped four times by his country, is currently with the Republic of Ireland squad ahead of their Euro 2012 qualifier in Macedonia tonight (Sky Sports One/HD1 8pm).

Actually EatonBlue 44 in a 30 mile an hour limit is a big deal! It could be the difference between killing a child and avoiding serious injury. With idiots like you about no wonder Delaney thinks he can get a sympathetic hearing. Its not as if he has to get to work at 7am either. Not everything Keane aspired to was wrong.

I'm more concerned by the fact that he's only driving an Audi A5. This is clearly the reason we can't sign half-decent players because we only pay enough for these guys to buy executive saloons.

EatonBlue '44 in a 30mph limit no big deal'? How about 5 or 6 pints beforehand as well? Its putting peoples' lives at risk.

What a tit, if it was me I would of phoned the gaffer up and told him that I was waiting for the AA to turn up as my car wouldn't start, instead of a fine and 4 penalty points he could of got an extra four hours in his pit!!!

Poor diddums, unable to get to work on time and appease his unreasonable boss who thought that a muppet could get to playford road on a fat cart by 10am, and for only 10k a week...

Try getting up at 6am to catch a train into London every day and I could still have defended better than you did against Norwich at Carrow road.

Wicked and Eaton, you need to take a serious look at yourselves. I'm not perfect but I took responsibility for myself when I got stopped for speeding, I didn't blame my boss and 44 in a 30 is a big deal - easy to do, but a big deal. So don't try and defend the indefensible.

He screwed up, like we all do from time to time, and he has to pay the piper not whinge like a b***h and blame somebody else. It was his foot on the accelerator nobody else's.

Bet Jordon Rhoades doesn't get stopped for speeding...

I'd have thought he should be much more concerned with the points on his licence than the fine?
I got lost & got done for doing 38 in a 30 zone on a dual carriageway (Leeds inner ring rd) with concrete banks and no schools/houses around, on my way to Elland Rd in March. My first speeding ticket, and got offered a speed awareness course in lieu of points, gratefully taken, why wasn't Del offered that? Done it before? I used to live up Tuddenham Rd (in the 70s!) and it was busy enough then. He should be thanking his lucky stars he didn't kill someone, which really would have wrecked his life, not to mention that of numerousother people.

A truly pathetic excuse Delaney. Take responsibility for your own actions in life Mr....and try leaving earlier for "work" in future!!!

thank the gods {all 58 of them } that the dark lord was expelled from the club obviously he now needs to be hurled naked and starving from the very fine county of suffolk ' the man is pure evil and a useless football manager at that ! he is most definitely a threat to the health of all suffolkiacs who venture on to our fine highways. the man is a menace and should be sorted in traditional suffolk manner taken to the norfolk border and ----- ------ ---------- ----- ----until allusions of ---- and ----- are terminated only then can us suffolkfarians rise up and claim our place amongst the elite of the roundyball world

In my earlier post I did not intend to trivialise speeding. However there are so many other driving offences that go unpunished.
In a short drive around town yesterday I saw reckless overtaking, dangerous parking and jumping traffic lights to name a few.
By the way, DD was 14 mph over the limit and I was about 44 mph over the limit when I got done on the M4. I felt that I was in complete control of the car but the Wiltshire Magistrates thought otherwise.

Don't get me wrong, I am not sorry to see the back of Roy Keane as manager, but it is harsh to blame it on him for a speeding ticket. Any decent boss will not tolerate lateness as it shows a lack of discipline.
