Town Face Bristol City Trip on Opening Day
Friday, 17th Jun 2011 09:00

Town will start their 2011/12 campaign with a trip to Bristol City on Saturday 6th August. After their midweek Carling Cup tie at home to Northampton, Hull City will be the first Championship visitors to Portman Road the following weekend.

August continues with a third home game in a week with newly-promoted Southampton in Suffolk on Tuesday 16th August, before the month concludes with rare weekend trip to Peterborough, the Carling Cup second round and Leeds at Portman Road.

September sees fixtures with Blackpool (A), Coventry (H), in the Carling Cup if the Blues are still involved, Middlesbrough (A) and West Ham (A) on Tuesday 27th September.

Boxing Day sees Town off to Leicester and Reading on New Year’s Eve, with Nottingham Forest at Portman Road on Monday 2nd January. The FA Cup third round is on the following Saturday.

As for Easter, the Blues are in Derby on Saturday 7th April, while Town are at home to Leicester on the Monday.

After those fixtures, the Blues end the season with games against Crystal Palace (A), Birmingham (H), Millwall (H) and finally Doncaster (A).

Annoying midweek away trips include Burnley on Tuesday 29th November, Southampton on Tuesday 6th March and Birmingham on Tuesday 1st November.

The full list of Town’s fixtures can be seen on TWTD here.

Wahey! Closest game for me.

As Ipswich24 says, it doesn't matter who we play when, we should be looking to win 'em all!

The release of this years fixtures was met with the usual excited anticipation but this was short lived, I found myself looking but with no real purpose, no stand out fixture without Nodge and no way of telling if we have a tough start or an easy run in due to the nature of the teams in the division, for the 1st time I genuinely dont know who will do what this year, us included!. everybody will be beating everybody I imagine, It will be in interesting one but I think there will be such a small points margin between the top 2 and bottom 3.

I am absolutely OVER THE MOON about Bristol City away on Sat 6th August.

The reason? The night before sees my fave punk band The Dickies making an appearance at the Bristol Fleece venue.

So thats me making a weekend of it!!!

That's a great excuse not to have to go to Burnley.

Fantastic ash cloud over the South Atlantic depending I will be arriving with my youngest Son at Brize Norton early Saturday morning on the 27th August hopefully We will be at PR for our first match since the start of RK's tenure. My Boss is a Leeds fan so that should make the whole day that much more interesting.

Does anyone know about a forum for Town fan's who go to away matches? Would love to watch the Town in more away games this year, and living in Reading now I won't get the chance to see many Portman Road fixtures.

Cheers
