Town Shirt Reaches Three Figures for Plymouth Wednesday, 7th Sep 2011 09:35
A Premier League vintage Town replica shirt has, at the time of writing, reached the £132 mark on eBay as Town fans join their counterparts from across the country in lending their support to crisis club Plymouth Argyle.
TWTD user SouperJim is auctioning a 2001/02 era shirt with Mark Venus’s name emblazoned across the back to raise funds for the Green Taverners, who are asking fans of other clubs to auction their football memorabilia.
The auctions are just one aspect of supporter-led attempts to help Plymouth's battle for survival. The Pilgrims’ home game against Macclesfield on Saturday 24th September has been declared Fans Re-United Day by Brighton supporters, keen to help out another club in return for the assistance they received from followers of teams around the country during their darkest hours at the end of the 1990s.
Back in 1997 the Seagulls staged the first ever Fans United Day when supporters of clubs, including Town, came along to their home game against Hartlepool United wearing their side’s colours to give them their backing and help raise funds.
To find out more about Fans Re-United Day, which coincides with Town’s visit to Middlesbrough, there is a Facebook page, while more details can be found here. Follow developments regarding Fans Re-United on Twitter.
The latest details of the situation at Home Park can be found here, while Plymouth’s main forum PASOTI can be found here.

The added comment at the end of the Ebay listing made me laugh.... Does the person who bid £132 realise that it is a replica and not in fact the shirt that was worn by Mark Venus ??? Lol !

It's good that fans help out although the real issue is to stop the inequality in football. Premier League players earning about £1M to £10M each per year when small clubs struggle to survive and fans pay through-the-nose for tickets. It's not right.

Must admit, I didn't expect it to get much above £20, so am pretty gobsmacked thus far! @trulyblue, the ambiguous description was a bit of an oversight that someone pointed out to me on the forums. The extra bit was added after about 2 hours of the listing being live, at which point the shirt was only at about £30, so I hope that those who have bidded since then have read through the whole description! I might see if I can dig up a Venus autograph or something to include now that it's hit 3 figures!

@Truelyblue, I was one of the people bidding on the shirt and I can assure you my bidding has nothing to do with it being a replica, a worn shirt, a fake shirt or anything like that. I was bidding to help PAFC and I am sure the bloke who has the automatic bid on it is doing the same thing. Though everytime I bid his auto bid raised it up....more money for the club though so it all works out :). Thank you to Jim for doing this! I did not expect things to go as high as they did but its all for a good cause.
