Town Waiting on Carson

Manager Paul Jewell has revealed that the club are waiting to hear Josh Carson’s agent's response to Town's offer of a new contract. The Northern Ireland international is one of the 16 players whose terms are up at the end of the season.

Jewell says he’s not quite sure where things are but confirmed that the 18-year-old has been handed new terms: “The club’s made Josh Carson an offer and I don’t know where we are.

“I spoke with Marcus briefly [on Wednesday] and with Simon Clegg [on Thursday] and they’ve made Josh’s agent an offer. I don’t know whether that’s been accepted or not.”

The other 15 players whose deals at up at the end of June are Jason Scotland, Grant Leadbitter, Richard Wright, Mark Kennedy, Tommy Smith, Shane O’Connor, Carlos Edwards, Ibrahima Sonko, Ívar Ingimarsson, Lee Bowyer, Luke Hyam, Tamás Priskin, Ronan Murray, Cody Cropper and Cormac Burke.

Jack Ainsley recently signed a deal until June 2013, while Jamie Griffiths, who like Ainsley had been on a six-month deal which is up this month, has not been offered a new contract and is currently training with Colchester United.

Meanwhile, 14-year-old Debenham High School pupil George Fowler has agreed a two-year scholarship with the Academy. The midfielder or defender is a regular in Town’s U16s.

Hope Carson can be persuaded to stay, but little point if we don't play him and other youngsters. We are building for the future aren't we?

I like the sound of George Fowler - a proper name! From my old school as well.

Before some people start moaning, how many of the out of contract players do we want to keep?

Maybe Carson ,Scotland, Sonko, Edwards, Hyam, Murry and Cropper
how many of them are in first team at the moment. Edwards, Scotland and Sonko and they are all over 30

We will not get anything for Priskin or Leadbitter they will wait till end of season, what ever we do, and go on a Bosman

And before some people blame Jewell, Clegg and Evans just remember one of the best players in the prem (Robin Van P) is at the end of his contract and will do the same and leave Arsenal on a Bosman

Keep: Jason Scotland, Shane O'Connor, Ibrahima Sonko, Lee Bowyer, Luke Hyam, Ronan Murray, Cody Cropper and Cormac Burke.

Chuck: Grant Leadbitter, Richard Wright, Mark Kennedy, Tommy Smith, Carlos Edwards, Ívar Ingimarsson, Tamás Priskin.

Should save a fortune in wages if nothing else.

Carson has to be a priority to sign up. I remember Jewell saying his agent wanted a lot of money, so I hope greed doesn't spoil his career at an early stage. Sign up Josh!

Robin Van Persie is probably the best forward in Europe, on current form.
The reason Van Persie would consider leaving is to play for one of the very very top clubs in Europe.
If Arsenal had decided to sell Van Persie instead, they wouldnt be able to replace him with a player of the same calibre (if Van Persie wants to move to a stronger club, why would a similar player be keen on stepping down to Arsenals level?).

So, Arsenal clearly feel its worth the risk, because of what Van Persie is giving them on the pitch right now.
Just like Cardiff did last year with Jay Bothroyd.

Where Ipswich are concerned, none of the out of contract players are irreplaceable, none of them are the outstanding players at this level, none of them are even the outstanding players in our team.

God i hope he stays, we are supposed to be building/looking at the youth for the clubs future. I think he could really do something for us next season.

Olimar
I think you missed the point I was making

Players will only sign up if they or their agent want to what ever PJ/Clegg/Evans do they cannot make them sign a new contract
