Lewis Set to Join Cardiff
Lewis Set to Join Cardiff
Saturday, 19th May 2012 23:51

Former Peterborough keeper Joe Lewis will sign a three-year deal with Cardiff City this week, according to reports in Wales. Last week, TWTD revealed that the Bluebirds were leading the chase for the free agent one-time Canary, who was also on Town's list of potential new keepers.

The Blues' number one target is Polish international Tomasz Kuszczak, who is set to leave Manchester United this summer.

However, Town face very stiff opposition for his signature with top flight clubs in England and Germany believed to be interested.

Birmingham’s Colin Doyle has also been linked but with sources close to Portman Road playing down the Blues’ interest.

Craig Gordon is an excellent shout.

Failing that can we get Super Cooper back from Tenerife.

We don't know how to offer a contract longer than 2 years so it's no surprise.

A keeper goes from one club to another. Neither of these clubs are Ipswich Town. I don't see how this warrants a newsitem of its own.

Good, don't rate him. Craig Gordon however would be great signing. Not sure he will drop down to Championship though.

People need to get real - Craig Gordon is way out of our league. It will be very tough to get Kuzsczak also. Town are no longer an attractive option irrespective of the wages.

We will probably end up with someone like Doyle - or another no2 from another championship club. Cue the moaning and sniping.

Good. Come on let's forget about chasing average/mediocre/poor champ/prem players, and start going for quality div 1&2 players please.

Oh I hope this is true :))...infact, was in the pub last night watching the football and getting some stick from the Posh boys over our link to Lewis....the only way I'd take Lewis is if Paul Taylor or maybe Boyd(though still not sure he's right for us) came free as part of the deal haha..

I think I'll next visit the TWTD site the day before the 2012-13 season starts to see what's actually happened close season. Whilst I appreciate that it's necessary to keep the sites content fresh surely it's also important to keep it relevant. As such why continue to link us to players when we haven't confirmed talks and/or offered terms, leading to disappointment amongst fans? Smith signing a new contract is news, as is Henderson or Pearce for whom we made offers signing elsewhere. Ward too being on his way out of Pompey is news if/as and when he does so but it's going to be a long disappointing summer for Town fans if you continue to print mere speculation. This gossip is - in my opinion - lazy journalism and can only serve to cause disunity amongst certain supporters some of whom take such reports as gospel and blame the club for having lost out on a player, for which there is no confirmation that there was any interest in the first place. Ps: I've heard that Clegg was spotted at Cambridge airport yesterday and was overheard saying that he's meeting Didier someone or other off a plane from Germany for talks. You heard it here first folks!

Some good points but it still dont detract from the point that Clegg IMO is getting the whole scenario wrong and at this rate we will sign nothing for nothing!

To sit oin the bench for a Championship club!? Weird decision unless Marshall and Heaton are both off?

Pettitt10 added 10:32 - May 20
This means Heaton is 3rd choice... *cough.

I think Luke steele is worth a punt from Barnsley one of the best NO.1's in the championship worth a cheeky bid!!!
