Bullard in China Shop Window?
Bullard in China Shop Window?
Saturday, 16th Jun 2012 15:46

Town midfielder Jimmy Bullard is reported to be attracting interest from two top Chinese clubs. The 33-year-old, who has another year left on his contract, had a disappointing first full season with the Blues in 2011/12 having been named the club’s Player of the Year after his half-season loan spell during the previous campaign.

The Chinese sides are said to have made contact with the former Wigan, Hull, Fulham and Peterborough man, but Bullard’s agent Simon Dent says his player is currently concentrating on getting fit for the new season with Town: "Jimmy is looking forward to having his first full pre-season and is fully focused on the new campaign."

Yes please. The wages it would free up should be enough for 2 decent players.

Hope he stays he can be a match winner on his day. If he can recapture his form from his loan spell then he will be key for us.

Get rid, for a fee.

Nooo, don't sell him. We have all seen what a talent he is and the difference he can make at this level. I think he will be keen to impress after last season and a focused Bullard would be a major plus for us in 2012-13. COYB.

They'd no doubt offer silly money for him, so why not?!

I thought it was reported last year that he didn't use agents?

I think it's time to move on.

Surprised there's not been a move on Andrews, who, IMO is the ideal person to sort our midfield out, score goals and wear the Captains armband.

"Bullard In China Shop Window"...

See my hat, Phil? I'm tipping it.

;)

Very disappointed with Jimmy last season. Couldn't help noticing the dip in his performances coincided with getting a generous permanent contract compared to his previous displays when he was very much playing for his future at Portman Road.

Doubt we'd miss him at present but I still wonder what could happen if he was to rediscover his form - should we ever be forced to use him again.

In hindsight, Jimmy turned out to be a fantastic loan signing and a terrible permanent signing. He will be 34 in October so given the poor season he has just had and the high wages he is undoubtably on, I would be happy to see him leave for China or anywhere else.

CHINESE TAKEAWAY

would have been a better headline

if they will buy out all (or most) of his contract then we should let them take him away

Please sell Bullard at first opportunity --- advised against giving him a permanent contract --- currently have Hull senario all over again. As suggested above Andrews is the one to go for---- at least a 2 year contract, plus possible captain status ----- COYB !!!!!!

@yorksblue Oh please no, not Keith Andrews, very overrated midfielder. Yes, he does score goals but always seemed to have a self important, better than this club swagger about when here, misplaced too many passes as well, and remember he was a part of that 7 game defeat run side that seemed to improve after he left.

If Jimmy goes, I'm not that bothered, as has already been said, would free up wages for 2 more players, unless he's going to recapture his form when he was here on loan. We'll only find that out during the season, by which time we'll either want to keep him or it'll be too late to raise any money from a sale if he has another poor season.

Still a top player when played in his correct position. It wasent his fault pj made him play a defensive game

Agree with you buryblue77 on Andrews' swagger when he was here.
Big ego clash with bullard as well I think.

OK then. If not Andrews, who, because of his swagger, doesn't fit the bill, who else? I see Owen Hargreaves is free.

Que sera sera! What is beyond dispute is that JB is entering the last year of his contract. Given that he couldn't hack it in the Championship last season, and with hope not expectation that it would be different next year, I would consider it unlikely that we will be offering him a new one at the moment and it is probably in everybody's best interests to allow him to look at alternative career options sooner rather than later.

Thanks Jimmy, I'm sure they will love you in China.
