Bullard in China Shop Window?
Bullard in China Shop Window?
Saturday, 16th Jun 2012 15:46

Town midfielder Jimmy Bullard is reported to be attracting interest from two top Chinese clubs. The 33-year-old, who has another year left on his contract, had a disappointing first full season with the Blues in 2011/12 having been named the club’s Player of the Year after his half-season loan spell during the previous campaign.

The Chinese sides are said to have made contact with the former Wigan, Hull, Fulham and Peterborough man, but Bullard’s agent Simon Dent says his player is currently concentrating on getting fit for the new season with Town: "Jimmy is looking forward to having his first full pre-season and is fully focused on the new campaign."

Bullard on loan - good signing

Bullard on permanent - very poor signing: essentially just another injury prone has been. On the whole, PJ's transfer policy for last Summer.

We were warned. Jimmy was clearly putting himself in the shop window whilst on loan with us, with some excellent displays. Then he tried - but failed - to join a PL club. With all other options exhausted - he joined us. Hull fans told us he wouldn't try and whatever anyone else says on here - he has not put in 100%. He has been disruptive, setting a poor example to the younger players and his performances - in whatever position he has played (although agree that PJ is also at fault for positioning) - has been woeful.

Let's hope he leaves us in the Summer. The saving in wages will allow us to buy better players for the future of this club. Jimmy Bullard isn't it!

Jas I love the way you so casually call Bullard 'an injury prone has been' when in fact he hasn't had a notable injury now for the best part of two years. He missed a couple of games in his loan spell, most probably just through tired limbs, but it was no more of that. And of him being a 'has' 'been' - he had 'been' pretty bloody good in the 6 months before we signed him! How can you criticize the signing of a player that had performed consistently well for us 6 months previously? You said yourself at the time that he would be a good signing.

"and his performances - in whatever position he has played (although agree that PJ is also at fault for positioning) - has been woeful." Is that correct? The whole midfield was getting praise throughout that 6 game unbeaten run, including Bullard, just as much if not more than anyone else. I know it was a very short run of form, but its not as if he didn't have even one good game last season, which is what you're making out.

Sorry for picking apart every comment you make, but what can you expect with the statements you make?

Garv

spot on re Bullard comments. Would love to see him in the side, running the show, as he can do. Hardly had a run of games since he was signed (for various reasons).

Saying Andrews was part of the team that lost 7-1 is pretty pointless. If we go with that policy then we have to get rid of the players that were involved in that game? Think before you post.

To be honest you say bullard on a loan move was good. But I beleive around 95% of fans would have done the same and signed him on a permeanent deal

itfcdibbs, if your comment was aimed at me I actually said Andrews was part of the team that lost 7 in a row, not just the Posh defeat, and if you think about it there has been several changes since that run, players like Stockdale, Andrews, Collins, and Bullard had in the case of the first 3, going back to there parent clubs and Bullard losing his place. We also saw the full introduction of players like Smith, Drury, Martin, Hyam and JET so it is a different line up. That run however is not the reason for my not wanting Andrews back, I just don't rate him. He gives goals yes, but his 'midfield' play is not all that good, he's not the best tackler and gives away passes too easily, as well as the 'swagger' a sense of better than this place arrogance.

I agree with you on your comment (aimed at jas?) about Bullard being a good loan and 95% of us wanting him here on a permanent, I was one of them. Trouble is you can't only look at it retrospectively to compare, how many people that Bullard would go from hero to zero in a matter of months?

A talented player but at nearly 34 and with a history of injuries,if an offer is forthcoming should take it,as a small transfer fee and off the wage bill
set against the chances of him rediscovering his loan form or getting crocked is a no brainer.Pleased that PJ and the Major are keeping quiet about any transfer deals, best way;but not good for Phil who has to find something to put on his website(Great work Mr Ham)

oh garv, what you on about? it very rare for me to agree with nething jas says, but def right this time. other than the injury point which u correctly point out hasnt been an issue u wrong. jas clearly stated that he played well during his loan period, it since his permanent signing that hes flopped. u make a point of him playing well during that 6 game winning streak? exactly, he played well for "6" games, and that was when he was out of position, so clearly it not what position he in that determined his form. yes, i was pleased when he signed as thought hed help us get where we want to be. that hasnt happened, & in fact hes turned out to be the disruptive influence that hull fans said he would. i say, if chance to sell him comes along, take the money. as others have said, could sign 2 decent players with the wages wed save. however if he still here next season, he'll still get my full support & hope he can recapture his form.

Jimmy Bullard is, as my dear old mother would have said, double w*nk and sh*t chips.

Once the diamond got worked out his 'defensive' midfield role was always under threat.

It was good while it lasted, but once players started to man mark him, it was never gonna end well.

NO NO No. keep jimmy. all good teams nead a someone who can lift them. without jimmy, who could come off the bench and lift the crowd and team. get him fit and rearing to go in pre-season. dont start with him but have him on the bench. then bring him on when we need a lift. hear the crowd roar when he come on.

When Jimmy joined full time, he wasnt fit & had serious legal issues with Hull.
Now he will have a full pre season, have his problems ironed out and be raring to go.

Like Chops he has it all to prove to the club and fans next season!
If these guys play to their full potential added to JET, Martin we can expect some exciting games and a few goals!

buryblue. You don't think Andrews is good enough for your beloved Blues despite the fact 'he gets goals' Brilliant. That would be why he had no trouble getting back in the premiership and scoring goals for WBA and for Republic in their vital play off qualifer. Thats not the sort of player we need then. Just think in future.
