Town Chasing Chambers
Town Chasing Chambers

Nottingham Forest central defender Luke Chambers could join the Blues on a Bosman free transfer as soon as next week, according to reports this evening. The 26-year-old is out of contract this summer with the likes of Leicester, Wigan and West Brom all previously linked.

Kettering-born Chambers started his career with Northampton, breaking into their first team on the final day of the 2002/03 season as a 17-year-old before establishing himself in the side. The 6ft 1in tall centre-half or right-back eventually wore the captain’s armband and helped the Cobblers to promotion from League Two.

In January 2007 Chambers joined Forest for an undisclosed fee and since then he has gone on to make 208 starts and 20 substitute appearances, scoring 21 goals, and was their captain during 2011/12.

We understand there is interest from Town but with a number of other clubs also still targeting Forest’s 2010/11 Player of the Year.

As hollywoodginge says it is all over twitter from a selection of different fans! Would be a great free transfer! Leave Edwards as the captain this season but would be a contender after that.

Loach and Chambers are the right sort of players we should be linked with, as well as players like Hewitt and Howells.. just wish we could actually get them!

More chance of Cleggy running in the olympics for Guam than us getting Chambers, hang on...yes definitely.

Would be a great signing imo . Id keep Edwards with the armband this season .

You cant make a new player as captain , just doesnt work like that

lot of people need to simmer down and dont overdo the circus of players maybe coming in and going out.. we are not going to be signing players of any stature to get too crazy about.. so can we chill and when a player does sign on the dotted line, hold back with the over-hyping and usual false expectations

Havent seen much of him, but just had a quick look on the Forrest Vital Forum.....geez the fans don't seem overly fussed he is going and or at all complimentary about him as a player!!! Not sure if that is soley being upset because he is a free agent and not resigning?? But fans can jump off you fairly quickly after a poor year as a club and apparently as a player which may be to Ipswich's benefit. Could be a pretty smart signing.

Player of the year 2010-11 and club captain....surely he must have some kind of class about him!!
