Jewell Yet to Sound Out Klug About Spurs Monday, 9th Jul 2012 12:00 Town boss Paul Jewell says he’s yet to speak to new academy director Bryan Klug about potential recruits from his former club Tottenham and already has very good contacts at the Premier League club. Klug was assistant academy director and head of player development with the North London club during his time away from Portman Road and his return to the Blues led to speculation that he could recommend young players who are at or have been with Tottenham’s youth set-up. Jewell said: “I haven’t spoken to him about that yet. We have a decent relationship with Spurs, I know [assistant first-team coach] Tim Sherwood quite well at Tottenham and I’ve been in dialogue with him over the summer. “I’m actually seeing [former Spurs manager] Harry Redknapp tomorrow [last Friday], so he might be telling me about one or two good players. I have seen quite a bit Spurs’ academy players.” The Blues boss believes Klug will do well at Playford Road in difficult circumstances with the EPPP changes to youth football being introduced this season: “I think Bryan will be good for the academy. “He’s got lots of contacts, he’s been here for a long time, he’s been connected to the club for a long time and hopefully he’ll take the academy on because there are so many changes to the academy at the moment that it’s ridiculous.”
