Loach Due at Town for Medical
Loach Due at Town for Medical
Wednesday, 18th Jul 2012 16:39

Blues target Scott Loach is set to undergo a medical at Town this evening as the keeper closes in on a dream move to his boyhood club. We understand Loach is not yet at Portman Road but will be later on today with the move looking likely to be confirmed either this evening or tomorrow.

Earlier this afternoon, the 24-year-old said his situation would be “clear within the next few hours”.

The Nottingham-born glovesman's representatives have talked personal terms with the Blues today with the deal - probably a three or four-year contract - now looking closer to completion than manager Paul Jewell suggested after last night’s game at Helmond Sport: “We’ve been chasing a goalkeeper for a while and we’re hoping it’s going to happen in the next few days.”

Loach was previously with the Blues’ academy between 1997 and 2000 before his family returned to Nottingham. Loach can be seen in action with the Blues as a youngster in this short film.

Is miles better than we currrently have between the posts. Offload ALB and sign up Kello as back up to Loach

I tell you what...he'll be a brilliant choice for us. Not only does he actually WANT to be here, his England Under-21 credentials and form for Watford the season before last shows that he's a decent keeper, with the ability to improve further.

Ignore the trolls and the moaners. He'll be great for this club.

When Sindre first mentioned this I was doubtful - Do you have any more good news about signing players??

Agree Warkystache, wasn't long ago he was tipped for a move to Tottenham. Something went a bit south since at Watford but he's young enough to rediscover his best form

Looks like Paul Jewell has been doing his homework , some decent signings have been made. I feel a lot more confident now than this time last year. COYB !!!!

Soo.. All the anti Clegg & Jewell brigade;
Would you like some cheese with your whine?
Great signing, at 24 he has years until he hits his prime, and yes he may have had a poor season last year but, you don't suddenly turn into a poor player. Also bare in mind he pulled a motm display on the final game if the season. Since he was 18 he has played on average 31 games a season. Nearly 200 apps for a 24 year is fantastic experience. Very exited! Now go for Davies!!

My mates who are watford season ticket holders are glad to see the back of him for me kello would be a much better number 1 than loach but i hope scott can prove me wrong.

Great news, seems to be happening fast, but no doubt Jewell and Clegg have been working long and hard on these deals. I think they should be given more credit.

Great news! Still young with still lots to prove, and he has a chance to do so at his boyhood club. Jas, we're very close to signing a keeper now, any comments?

TractorBoy666 - please see my earlier comments to Sindre. I still don't understand why it has taken 12 months to address the GK situation. Poor management IMO. Your entitled to your opinion though - as am I mine.

Will give Loach - as with all players - 100% backing; but obviously there are concerns about his form over the past two seasons and that fact Watford fans are very pleased he is leaving. Time will tell if it's a good signing. Personally think the trialest is a better option. Certainly NOT PJ's first choice - he failed to attract him.

However, despite the long wait, very pleased we are FINALLY signing a new permanent No. 1 keeper.

Good goalkeeper, not great. Considering he's a local lad and wasn't going to feature for Watford next season I wouldn't be surprised if he's brought in primarily as competition for a number 1 spot. We need 3 keepers these days anyway. Would much rather a more complete goalkeeper than a highlight reel shot stopper like Kello or Loach in the team. We will see though

From what I can tell all the negatives about Loach have come about since he was replaced by Kuszack. Kuszack is quite probably a better keeper, but that doesn't make Loach a bad one. Probably more to do with Kuzsack being better. He's also got age very much on his side.

Plus he's a life long Town fan which is brilliant.

Loach was superb for Watford at PR last season , got their MOM if i remember right . ALB isnt half as bad as some make out but their is certainly need for competition in that posistion as there is any other posistion . Just cos some Watford wont be sad to see him go doesnt mean he isnt up for the job . A fresh start is just whats needed sometimes , especialy if its to the club you love and support . Watfords loss is our gain as i see it . Its not official but when it is i will welcome you Scott Loach to PR ... COYB !!!!!!

Looking like it's going to happen and should be a good signing for the club. Welcome aboard and enjoy your stay Scott.

However, why all this strong anti-ALB feeling on here? I don't understand it ... he has never really let us down, shown fantastic loyalty when it has been so obviously that the manager has been looking to replace him and still doing everything he can to prove it can cut it at this grade. If nothing else that at least deserves respect from the supporters.

Oh sorry, does this mean I am now not a true fan as i am not agreeing with the mouthy majority?

Always had confidence S.Loach would sign today: if people remember when Watford won here n at vicarage Rd Loach was MOM: he has just gone stale at Watford needed a new challenge none better than signing for your home-town club my source has told me his contract is long-term: I'm pleased with our dealing this summer n never panicked bout why other clubs signing whoever we panicked in the market last summer it's seems this year far more thinking n planning has gone into potential signings: With WHU signing another forward I hope we try n get Baldock or Maynard both clearly not going too play next season & would benefit us massively: COYB!!!!!

Very good news!!!!! He has his doubters, which is understandable considering his form last season. But he is 24, and wiv the coaching staff we have, he can only get better, welcome home scott, and do us proud, COYB!!!!!!!
