Taylor Terms Agreed
Thursday, 30th Aug 2012 20:10

Town are understood to have agreed personal terms with Peterborough United striker Paul Taylor and the 24-year-old looks set to sign for the Blues well before Friday night's deadline.

The Liverpudlian was at Portman Road yesterday along with fellow Posh player George Boyd to undergo a medical and discuss a personal terms but returned to Cambridgeshire without agreeing to sign.

However, as reported earlier, the deal always looked likely to be revived and after further talks today, Taylor is set to join Paul Jewell's squad.

According to reports elsewhere a deal which could ultimately be worth £2.5 million, presumably after numerous top-ups, has been agreed with the London Road club for Taylor, although this has not been confirmed by either club.

Earlier in the week a fee - perhaps only an initial payment - somewhere in the region of £1.75 million to £2 million was agreed for both Taylor and Boyd, the majority believed to relate to the former.

We understand that Boyd is keen to join Taylor at Portman Road, however, his much higher wages remain a significant stumbling block.

Very much my thoughts Suffolkpunchdrunk. Decent player i'm not doubting that but I hope that figure is way off the mark, especially when you consider Cardiff are only paying that for Maynard. Admittedly Maynard is probably on higher wages but still....

This and Murphy is good news though, now for a CB to get that liability Smith out of the team and we'll be ready to thump Huddersfield.

Good news if we want him and get him for a decent price.

How could he be worth £2.5M!? 5ft 7in tall. 12 goals in 45 games at Peterborough. Before that no appearances for Anderlecht and no goals in 10 games on loan at Charleroi. Hmmm...

seems expensive to me for a guy who's not got long on his contract and got less goal than Chops last year. I hope we haven't given him stupid wages.
We will see, at least we are doing something positive I guess

Quote from who I can only assume is a Posh fan under a Youtube video of Taylor: "Taylor is superb. I hope he stays with us for the rest of his career, but suspect that the Posh will only be a stepping stone on his way to the Premiership!"

Eating (some) of my words at the moment I won't swallow them unless these two sign on the dotted line!
