Burley Leaves Apollon
Burley Leaves Apollon
Friday, 21st Sep 2012 12:08

Former Blues boss George Burley has parted company with Cypriot side Apollon Limassol by mutual consent. The 56-year-old only took over as head coach in May.

With the season in Cyprus only two games old - one win, one defeat - Nicodemos Papavasiliou has taken over.

How many pillocks will now clamor for him to take over here...

Tractamatt added 12:50 - Sep 21
Souperjim: pillocks maybe but we have done alot worse and considering whats going on at Portman road this may be more than coincidence.

Crikey that was quick, maybe being a Scot it was too hot for him there (joke). @SouperJIm - pretty stupid statement really mate!

Well superjim he is certainly better than the idiot here now

SouperJim, rather have him than Magic, Beano or Jewell!

We want Burley back, say we want Burley back!

Oh, he didn't last long there then!

Like most managers, Burley's record is patchy but most of us will fondly remember his days in charge of Ipswich. If he was brought back tomorrow however, I doubt he could recapture those times.

George was great until he was given some money to spend!

Joking aside, he was a great servant to the club as player and manager, and remains a true gentleman of the game.

There we go, how predictable.

Burley was fantastic for us, but those who think it'd be sensible to bring him back now are the kind of individuals Chopra was referring to I believe.

SouperJim - I think you'll find most of the calls for Burley back are tongue in cheek, driven by the fact that the lump of s*** i've just scraped off my shoe would do a better job than the idiot in charge at the moment!

Souper jim: With full respect to yourself the people who would like to see the return of a man who as a player was a superb player and ambassador (bad spelling, sorry) and as a manager was the most succesfull we have had for some years does not put us in the same catergory as the individuals who have a pop on twitface type websites. Things are not going exactly well at present so why not cut our losses early pay Jewell off and bring in a manager who is a true blue and will put his heart and soul into the club. Also he knows a thing or two about defense. COYB

Get Burley back, then he can sign and Rhodes and Wickham - heads out of the past fellas - Souper take a tick (not for that first comment though - that was just wrong!).

Re-hiring previously successful managers hasn't worked at many places (cue list of clubs where it has worked...?)

Doctor Albran: Sometimes just sometimes taking a step back can help a team progress a lot faster than struggling on regardless .

Tractamatt added 13:24 - Sep 21
Also if only we could have Rhodes and Wickham upfront

Burley created a team in the Championship that almost qualified for the Champions League!
OK, he signed and played Andy Marshall and relegation was devastating, but I'd take him back in an instant!
Burley with Kiwomya as assistant! Dream stuff!

Doctor Albran - I like your photo of Rab C by the way...would be fun if he was in charge!! seriously - I agree you can't go back but it's quite coincidental that GB has become available now?

...More moronic comments re a guy who worked wonders at this club and certainly produced my happiest years as a fan.

I'd carry George back here myself...the guy is a Town legend.

Why Not? Keane=signing useless washed up old Sunderland players. Jewell=signing useless washed up old Wigan players, so why not Burley signing up a load of washed up old Cypriot/Hearts players...........Maybe rubbish but a sort of international feel of rubbishness....................before you all start............I'm only joking!!!!!!!!
