Blues Target Arsenal Midfielder
Monday, 28th Jan 2013 08:57

Town boss Mick McCarthy is understood to be keen to add 20-year-old Arsenal midfielder Thomas Eisfeld to his squad on loan. The Gunners are keen to send the German out on loan to gain first team experience with other Championship clubs also likely to be interested.

Finsterwalde-born Eisfeld played youth football with SV Quitt Ankum and VfL Osnabrück before joining Borussia Dortmund’s academy in 2005.

Having made 12 senior appearances, scoring six goals, he moved on to Arsenal in January of last year for a fee of £475,000. He made his Gunners debut in their 7-5 Capital One Cup win at Reading in October.

Blues manager McCarthy is keen to add to his midfield before the transfer window closes on Thursday and last week said loans were more likely than permanent additions.

I know I shouldn't feel like this, but as soon as the story says other championship clubs are interested, my stomach drops down to my boots.

This guy is better than Luongo. He's been compared to Mario Gotze . Could be the next big thing for Germany (if at a club other than Arsenal)

Could be wrong but just cannot see this happening unless MM can work some of his magic

There will be a lot of links this week. If ever we needed serious competion for the like of Lee Martin its now. Im stunned at his inabilities in front of goal plus also hiss lack of assists. If you look at all the players on the prozone stats , minutes played , goals , assists he is right at the bottom. But if you look at miles run ,he is near the top. I guess it shows what we all see. Big effort but zero effective product. If we had back up he would not be in the side. His best position is in free space behind one striker , yet thats not the 442 system MM emplys. The end is near for lee martin.

We dont need more youngsters on loan, we need Boyd!

carlos will need a replacement soon simply due to age so we should sign a young hungry player as competition for him but id stick with lee martin.....mick seems to agree with me hence his consistant inclusion.I think we can carve out a decent side from the players at the club already it will just take a bit of time but we WILL stay up coyb

Would rather see
a) someone who would stop balls getting into our box.
b) someone who defends balls coming into our box when they do come

Still class is class and if he can start supplying our strikers with decent service then get him in.

Hope the rumours are true, saw him for Arsenal against Olympiakos and he was one of their best players and very CREATIVE!!! Which we have lacked all season. Still need two wingers and a right back too before the end of the week please Mick!

Anyone else concerned that neither Mclean, McGoldrick or Nouble have scored yet...

YES PLEASE!! Was very highly rated at Dortmund before Arsenal snatched him from their academy. As previously said had been compared to Mario Gotze. Haven't seen a real class player in a Town shirt since Gio (v Norwich game esp) think this lad could be very useful. Dortmund academy are definitely no mugs

This looks really interesting - we really need a player like this. But then again I thought Luongo was a good addition to our side. What do I know?!

Dont know much about him. In all honesty i would prefer an experienced creative midfielder at the present minute nothing against the young lad.

Loans don't bother me. Anything to patch us up and get us to summer in the same league.

For those of you thinking this would be a negative move for ITFC I can only think you haven't seen him play - this laD is mustard!! Saw him play for Arsenal in the Carling Cup earlier in the season and he was the best player on the pitch by a mile even with Walcott, Ramsey & co playing. We'd never get him long term though because he's an international player in the making. Proper class and would walk into any championship side. Go on Mick even if its just for a month it'd be worth it.

Good player, exactly the kind of player we need because he's a ball player. I dont know if anyone else saw him in the Capital one cup against Reading when they won 7-5 but he was excellent and looked a very tidy player, then again I think Chamakh scored two goals..., The kind of player we should be looking at though and if this is true then I'm pleased Mick understands the need for this kind of player.
