Henderson Due at Portman Road
Saturday, 20th Jul 2013 15:48

Released Arsenal midfielder Conor Henderson is set to spend time with the Town squad in the week ahead with reports elsewhere claiming the 21-year-old is close to signing a deal with the Blues.

A former England U17 international, who has subsequently won caps for Ireland’s U19s and U21s, Sidcup-born Henderson spent time on loan at Coventry last season but without making an appearance.

His only senior game up to now was the Gunners’ 5-0 victory over Leyton Orient in the FA Cup in March 2011. He was released by Arsenal at the end of last season.

According to Wiki, after that Orient match Wenger said he expects Henderson to be a future first team player for Arsenal, so he must have something about him. He got a knee ligament injury and didn't feature again.

Another exciting young signing if it happens!

I like the sound of this. Another young player who can develop at the club. Brian Klug must be loving this. Finally, people at the club are backing him with talented young signings to develop.

A free player with something to prove. Sounds like a Mick signing. Bit of a long shot, given he has not really played much competitive footy since his injury and not being played by Coventry, but in Mick we trust.

Well we can all be assured that if any player is invited to the Club , the background checks will have be thoroughly done prior to this invitation/ signing !

what the hell was the down arrow for guys? All I was trying to say was any player invited here will have a decent pedigree because MM's scouts do such a thorough job now.

Don't worry Retro down arrows are a badge of honour. I got a few for saying we were unlikely to sign that Hull winger we were linked with... 6 hours later Mick dismissed the link. Presumably those people are still trying to find the down arrow on Mick's comments.

@bluearmy78

I bet we've got Skuse, Murphy, Veseli and Anderson all with the wages we're saving on Lee Martin.

Another potential fantastic MM signing! Young, promising and presumably with something to prove. But to top it off, absolutely free.

It seems like were signing a lot of players with a long term view, very refreshing.
