Carson Set to Rejoin York
Tuesday, 10th Sep 2013 12:22

Ex-Blues midfielder Josh Carson is close to rejoining his former loan side York City. The 20-year-old Northern Irish international, who recently spent time on trial at Bristol City, Hibs and Notts County, had his Town contract terminated by mutual consent prior to the transfer window’s closure last Monday.

Nigel Worthington, manager of the League Two club, said: "We have offered a deal to Josh Carson, which he has accepted.

“Subject to a medical and international clearance he will be joining the club later this week."

Carson, who was given his first full Northern Ireland caps by Worthington during his time as national coach, made five appearances for York during a loan spell at the end of last season which was curtailed by a foot injury.

Meanwhile, former Town loanee Patrick Kisnorbo has completed his move to the Melbourne Heart back in his native Australia.

Good luck Josh, sometimes a young player needs to drop down a couple of leagues, get games under their belt to help them develop. I really hope it works out for you!

Wish we'd have loaned him out instead of getting rid

trying to understand why marshalls mullet has been marked down for both his posts, while ive disagreed on many an occasion with him both his posts on here are pretty much spot on. clearly he was a very promising player, who I and most of us town fans had high hopes for. but it seems like having had a good run in the side he thought hed made it and didn't need to continue working as hard as he had been doing. a shame as he could have been a good player for us. and as bournemouthblue said(also marked down), he wasn't good enough to be taken on, not only actually by notts county but a few others as well. the only reason York have come back in for him is because hes a free agent. I hope hes able to get his career back on track or that will be another of a fairly long line of promising youngsters weve had here who haven't made the grade. so good luck josh

Question, what is "international clearance" and why is it necessary for a Northern Irishman playing for an English club?

Have York got any strikers kicking about?

After a couple of decent games it was obvious he wasn't good enough for this level. I saw him against Felixstowe and Walton in the cup and in a game where he was by far the most experienced player and should have stood out, he didn't, he was abysmal and the defence kept him out of the game. Good luck to him though - I'm off to Uni up there so there's a chance I might be able to see how he gets on.

Good luck Josh, hopefully you can make it at York & turn it around. Thought he was going to be a good youngster for us. Loved it when I saw him score a good goal against the scum of Bristol - City that is! Possibly one day we can get him back with him doing well. Hope he does well with York.
