Marriott Set to Join Woking On Loan
Thursday, 7th Nov 2013 14:42

Blues boss Mick McCarthy has revealed that striker Jack Marriott is close to completing a loan move to Skrill Premier side Woking. The 19-year-old is set to spend a month with the Surrey club, who currently sit fourth from bottom of their league.

McCarthy believes the striker, who scored twice for the U21s earlier in the week, will benefit from playing regular first-team football.

“Woking want to take him and if he goes and plays at Woking I think it’ll be great for him,” he said.

Rip the league apart, score 10 and show Micky you deserve a place in the starting 11 :)

Why wouldn't we send Nouble down a few leagues on loan so he can also regain confidence rather than trying to regain confidence while not producing for us?

Some competitive games would do him good but I'm amazed that he'd have to go that far down the leagues to get them.

Just like Michael Owen then!!

Disappointing he's got to drop down so far, but the experience will benefit him without doubt.

With Taylor back he was always going to struggle to get game time. It was before Taylor came back that Marriot should have been used.

I think it's a largely positive move despite the drop down.

I think Mick wants him to get some competitive experience in, if he score a few goals it'll raise his confidence even more and help his case at least being on the first team bench.

Doesn't bode well that no club in a higher league will take him.
But competitive experience is better then sitting in our reserves.
All the best, hope it goes well.

Where did you read that no-one else in a higher league would take him???

Cannot believe nysully got down voted.

Nouble is a complete waste of space. The fact that a big man like him threw himself to the ground in injury time instead of stay on his feet and try to score sums him up.

Cannot see how Marriot could be any worse? 19 is young but not as young as when Rooney joined united or when Owen scored against Argentina.

So he's not going to be here to score goals. So who's going to score then then?

Woking!!! - unbelievable, we don't even know if the spell at Posh has done Taylor any good yet, so it's a bit of a mystery why he's going out on loan at this current moment.

Prediction time: In 3 weeks Marriott will score goals, we will not, and his loan will be cut short.

And then MM will put him back ion the bench.

You read it here first !

Those pointing out the big drop although i kind agree the difference in standard between the Skrill Prem and Leagues Once and Two is small. The fact that teams from that division often do well in League Two kinda proves that. More important is Woking is a good club who need a player of his ilk and will play him. I don't know much about Woking so can't say either way.

Look where scoring for the U21s has done for you!!

I think he can probably do better than the conference to be honest. I live in Grimsby and go to most of their games and the standard isn't great. If he has something about him then he shouldn't find it hard to bang goals in at that level. Woking play up here in December so i'll make sure i go to that one to see how he looks!

This is a good move. I know we'd all like to see him play for us, but he isn't so getting time on loan will be great, and the form he's on i reckon he'll do a really good job in the skrill premier.

Presumably Woking were the first and highest club to want him on loan.
Some Ipswich supporters seem to have an inflated view of the importance of Town and their players.Anyone watching the football league show on Saturday nights would see that they never get main coverage and apart from goals and sometimes occasional brief interview with MM,thats it Maniche and summariser with him rarely give them a mention.
If we ever get above mid table and have some impressive wins with exciting football then this could change;but am not holding my breath.

What a total waste talent it's a joke a loan to Woking and it will be good for him as well I think NOT !!

This is the most disgusting bit of news I've seen on here for a while...what an absolute farce...He hasn't been given his chance in the squad, he's banging them in for the reserves...he's got to be better than Frank Nouble at the moment...he is absolutely useless...why are we sending him down so a league so low?? disgraceful...

I think we need to manage expectations here guys. As much as we hope he is the next Owen or Rooney, he clearly isn't. At 19 he is a promising young striker nothing more, he is going to Woking because at the moment that is his level. First team football will help him develop so that hopefully, in a year or so, he will be ready for the first team.

shefkuqi32 added 16:52 - Nov 7
A lot of people seem to be an expert on this guy, MM see's him in training day in and day out and clearly knows best in this situation.

He's only 19 and has potential but nothing more then that. Would maybe like to see him at a slightly higher level but competitive first team football will do him some good and give him a chance to prove himself.

There's no need for people to get hysterical over this.

Show some patience and trust that the ITFC management know what they're doing. Woking games will be more competitive than with the reserve team, and it is only for a month!

Unbloodybelievable what a joke - MM you're having a laugh.

Probably a good idea. It's all well and good playing in U-21 matches - but proper competitive games will do him good. It's only for a month and we do have cover.
