Price on McCarthy's Head Sunday, 24th Nov 2013 10:11 Town have placed a £1 million compensation fee on manager Mick McCarthy’s head, according to one of this morning’s tabloids.
The Blues have set the price, The People reports, with McCarthy recently strongly linked with the Republic of Ireland job, although no approach was ultimately made, while Crystal Palace were also said to be eyeing the Blues boss before appointing ex-Stoke manager Tony Pulis as Ian Holloway's successor.
The 54-year-old took over at Town a year ago this month and is contracted until the summer of 2015.
Meanwhile, former Blues manager Paul Jewell reportedly could be part of Pulis’s Palace staff. Jewell has been doing media work since leaving Town 13 months ago.

........ obvious from certain posts that an element of Supporters don't expect very much at all, and are quite content with what is currently being served up. Personally, I find that sad for a Club with our history of previous achievement and reasonable success, yes, we are a smallish Club - but it hasn't been a drawback previously - so why should it now. Maybe ITFC of today - deserve Evans, McCarthy, and the Championship - at best. Sincerely and genuinely - I hope not - and will continue to expect more.

Absolutely flabbergasted that Mark's post on the first page has 24 positive votes - what does that mean comparing a team from a year a go to now? take a few of those names out from 2012 replace with further loans (Murphy/Stearman) and put Hyam and Chambers (both who were left out but as we know in our squad) in and you have the team that CONSISTENTLY did well from late November on wards. All that post proves is that we have less loans and a slightly younger team. The 2013 team in my mind playing not as well.

Can the club slap a price on the manager's head? Presumably it's the equivalent to the remainder of McCarthy's contract, in which case it will be reducing as time goes on. Would Mick himself have to consent to having a compensation figure put on him? As regards whether MM is the right man for the job, I have absolutely no doubt that he is.

That's not enough imho, what's a £1 million in modern football?

Bottom line is Marcus likes Mick. We will be average and unexciting to watch… Problem is I can't see MM walking or being sacked- was REALLY hoping Irish job came off. We may be stuck with this dinosaur for many years..

Walk the Wark - ....... agree with you - he's not pulling up trees enough to interest too many - therefore I think he's here until ............. we are relegated, or almost. That could perhaps be a long time in coming - because he would put 11 men in goal first.
