Nouble, Gerken and Tabb Start
Saturday, 22nd Feb 2014 14:07

Frank Nouble, Dean Gerken and Jay Tabb are all named in Mick McCarthy’s starting line-up as the Blues take on Championship leaders Leicester at the King Power Stadium.

As expected, Nouble is the man replacing injured top scorer David McGoldrick alongside Daryl Murphy up front, while Gerken returns in goal, despite Scott Loach’s impressive display in last week’s 0-0 draw with Blackpool.

Tabb takes over in midfield from Luke Hyam, who is out for a fortnight with the hamstring injury he suffered in the early stages against the Seasiders.

For Leicester, Jeffrey Schlupp replacing the suspended Paul Konchesky at left-back is the only change from the side which started the 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest in midweek.

Leicester: Schmeichel, De Laet, Wasilewski, Morgan (c), Schlupp, Knockaert, James, Drinkwater, Dyer, Nugent, Vardy. Subs: Hammond, King, Moore, Logan, Mahrez, Phillips, Wood.

Town: Gerken, Chambers (c), Berra, Smith, Cresswell, Green, Skuse, Tabb, Hunt, Murphy, Nouble. Subs: Loach, Mings, Richardson, Anderson, Wordsworth, Taylor, Ebanks-Blake.

I would be pi..ed off if i was scott. IMo Gerken the better keeper but felt Scott deserved to start after playing so well last week.

Green on the right baffles me as much as it did last week?

A point would be such a good result but looking at the team I must predict 3-0 Leiceste, I so hope I'm wrong but this is gonna hurt us today

It wasn't my imagine last week was it? It was a dour, inept performance with that same midfield we're stating with today…??? Tabb in the middle is an obvious no. Green on the right is an obvious no so, the question is, why???? Ah, yes, playing for a point….

Tells Scott he has no future at the club. Come in last mon MOTM performance, clean sheet then dropped for a keeper who gas hardly been perfect on the last month. Yet Scott was dropped after 1 mistake. COYB regardless.

Hmmm win MOM last week get dropped this week so much for MM's prove yourself to win your place reteric. He has his favourites and no matter what he'll play them. No I am not anti MM think over all he has done a good job he has steadied the ship but is he the man to take us to the next level? The jury is still out but I do question some of his decisions.

Surprised with the team selection. Thought Loach did okay shot stopping wise last week, but Gerken is the marginally better keeper as he leaves his line, something Loach failed to do on a number of occasions last week when crosses came in.

Tabb and Nouble would not have been my first choice selections Houghton. Neither add very much nor likely to score. However, perhaps it's their day?!

@StuartBrett thats because we dont play with a right hand side. Its been sacrificed this season for "team ethic" Gutless simple as

Yep feel sorry for Loach, Tabb/Green (out of position)/Skuse in midfield is hardly inspiring with Big Frank up top - lets hope the ref gives us plenty of free kicks in their half as dead ball situations will be the only way we'll score.

Have to say very harsh on Loach, but if we get something out of today and Gerken is faultless, then there is no room to complain!
Otherwise fill your boots after the game 'moaners'!!

Needed Anderson on the right to help nullify the pace of Dyer . Think Chambres might have a difficult aftrenoon

Hardly Alfromcol. As Timmy H said, it's uninspiring at a time when we need to start turning it on. 45 points left on the table and we need 30 to guarantee a play-off spot, maybe a bit less this year but the point still stands.

Going for a draw but risking a stuffing.
Loach may as well start looking for another club as he is obviously not in MM favoured few.

Leicester must be laughing their selves silly seeing Noubles name on the sheet No pace No control No goals No point I would love to be wrong but sadly I fear the worst

The problem with a line up like this is if we concede early we are screwed. Its all about getting a clean sheet first.
