Williams Loan Extension Confirmed
Monday, 31st Mar 2014 20:47

Town have confirmed that Jonny Williams's loan from Crystal Palace has been extended until the end of the Championship season.

The 20-year-old Wales international's initial month with the Blues was up today but the Eagles have agreed to allow Williams to remain at Portman Road, albeit with a 24-hour recall clause.

As long as that recall isn't activated, Williams's spell with the Blues could be extended for a second time into a third month if Town reach the play-offs. Emergency loans are limited to 93 days, which would take Williams beyond the date of the final on Saturday 24th May.

Earlier today, Palace boss Tony Pulis said he would assess the fitness of Marouane Chamakh and Dwight Gayle before making a decision on whether to allow Williams to remain with the Blues.

Williams made four starts and two sub appearances and scored once during a highly successful first month at Town.

Last Saturday was the first home game I've really looked forward to for some time, the second half performances against Derby and forest were fantastic.

It seemed that half time v derby the players and management changes all indicated a belief that we can go all out for this push to keep the season alive and all the good buzz about spirit and attitude seemed clear.

Congrats to Mick and everyone who worked on this as he is the player we have missed to turn a solid yet not very adventurous side to have a real attacking threat. The ampunt of free kicks he wins by running at player and mixing it is unreal.

COYB!

He's a good player but he will ultimately go back to Palace because, whether they stay up or not, they are still rubbish and need him long term. We need permanent signings, not loanees, if we are serious about going anywhere.

....... now that is extremely POSITIVE news - now let's attack from the off for the rest of the season - HOME or AWAY.
If we do we may just make it - and what have we got to lose in doing so now ??

Two words: season defining.

Every chance of promotion now - especially of Didsy can get back for the play-offs.

Great news but lets not put him under too much pressure.

To read these forums you would think he is going to get us promoted single handed!
