McCarthy Would Take Williams Back at the Drop of a Hat Wednesday, 7th May 2014 06:00 Manager Mick McCarthy says he has no idea whether on-loan Crystal Palace man Jonny Williams will return to Portman Road next season, but would take him back “at the drop of a hat”.
Williams, 20, scored once in 11 starts and two sub appearances during a highly successful loan spell with the Blues having joined late in February.
The Wales international recently signed a contract until 2018 at Selhurst Park so a permanent move isn’t on the cards and McCarthy says he doesn’t know whether another loan might be a possibility next summer.
“No idea, I haven’t got a clue,” he said. “I don’t have that discussion. I’ve certainly had that discussion with Jonny, we all love him, we’d all love him back but there would be others who would love to have him as well. That’s just the way it is.
“There might be Premier League clubs that want to take him. Tony Pulis might want to bring him back and put him in his team. Who knows? He’s done himself no harm with everybody, he’s been fabulous.
“So let’s make it public, we’d take him back at the drop of a hat. We’d love to have him back, of course, but that’s not my decision.”

RE: Taylor - is he really that good (since his injury)? How many of the times he's come on as a sub has he changed the game, set up or scored vital goals? Once or twice? Wordsworth's record is about as good and arguably Nouble's is better (e.g. winning late corners). Certainly Williams has had more influence on the results of matches. It's not like Taylor's only had five minutes of game time - 21 appearances (a lot of them for 15 to 30 minutes), including five starts. I'm not saying he's rubbish and he does add energy to the side. He's contributed as much or more than some others this season, e.g. Ebanks-Blake or Tabb. Plus he was out of action for a long time with a major injury - from which might still be suffering after-effects. I simply don't think he's as good as some people are making out.

Guthrum .. nobody is saying Taylor is the best player to pull on a Town shirt ,what they are trying to say is in the limited time he has had 5 starts over a season he has looked a better option than repeatedly using Nouble who looked out of his depth for the majority of the season ? I personally feel Taylor will go elsewhere and perform well , the same as Rhodes did and the same as Jet did this season , 21 goals in a struggling team is good in any division .

Agree with Lens post. Williams is creative and also a team player, who I suspect has the right attitude and gives his all in training.

Couldn't agree more with SuperBlue95, not every article needs to be brought back to Paul Taylor. McGoldrick behind Murphy was just as fruitful as Williams/Murphy. Willams with Hyam in the Midfield would be great though, only when we have not had Hyam have we noticed him and what he does, and he would compliment Williams perfectly.
