Winger Stewart Undergoing Medical
Tuesday, 1st Jul 2014 09:12

Winger Cameron Stewart is reported to be undergoing a medical at Town having apparently severed his ties with Leeds United, who he was previously due to join on a permanent basis following a loan. Last week, TWTD reported that the Blues and Charlton were eyeing the 23-year-old’s situation.

Stewart joined the Whites on loan from Hull in January when he also agreed a three-year permanent contract which would be formalised today.

However, with manager Brian McDermott having moved on and the club now under new owner Massimo Cellino, Leeds were keen to extricate themselves from the arrangement, something they now appear to have done with Sky Sports reporting that Stewart, now a free agent, is at Town having a medical.

The Blues were mentioned in connection with a move for Stewart last summer and then again in January.

Stewart, who was linked with Leicester over the weekend, began his career with hometown club Manchester United during which time he went on loan to Yeovil and Hull before moving to the KC Stadium on a permanent basis in January 2011.

Having been on loan at Burnley and Blackburn during 2012/13, the former England U17, U19 and U20 international spent the first half of last season on loan with Charlton before making his move to Leeds in January with his Tigers contract officially up yesterday.

Great signing. Pace to burn, skill and an end product. Still only 23.

In Big Mick we trust.

Let's hope we now have the 2 wide men we need. Another goalkeeper and an attacking midfield player. That's us sorted.

I think given time this will be a great signing for us. As already mentioned he's got pace and from what I've heard in the past, good shooting boots too.

Knowing that we're even in the running to sign him has put me in a better mood and it just comes to show how having the right man in charge, with the right attitude can effect the place. None of this nonsense we've had to deal with in the past about how players 'don't want to come and live in suffolk', I think its understand now that we have some form of momentum we can kick on and push ourselves. We as fans need to get even more behind it than we already are.

Henshall and Stewart, if given time to settle in and allow themselves to grow and nuture could be not only two fantastic signings, but two fantastic threats to other teams. I can't even recollect the last time town had two pacy wingers to attack other teams with.

In mick we trust.

Very happy with this, I get bored of us getting free transfers that are old and past their best. Let's hope he passes the medical, therefore it would be a fantastic exciting signing! Well done Mick.
