Town are reported to have renewed their interest in former loanee Ryan Tunnicliffe with Blackburn Rovers also said to be targeting the midfielder. The 21-year-old spent the first half of last season on loan with the Blues from Manchester United before he was sold to Fulham in January.

Having made two starts for the Cottagers, the manager who signed him, his former Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen, was sacked.

The Mancunian has featured only once as a sub under his successor Felix Magath and he was sent out on loan to Wigan at the end of January when the Blues also showed interest in bringing him back to Portman Road.

Any move is likely to be a loan with Tunnicliffe contracted until the summer of 2017.

At Thursday's press conference, Blues boss Mick McCarthy said there was the possibility of a player coming in on loan before tonight's 11pm deadline.

The former England U16 and U17 international made 24 starts and five sub appearances in his spell with the Blues without scoring.

harlingblue added 19:42 - Sep 1 Was not that impressed with Tunnie during his time with us, or any of the ex Man U players that have come to Town. Bishop should be groomed to be the attacking mid of the future, he has flare and a goal in him, which is far more than the aforementioned.

As far as im concerned regardless of whether Didz stays or go's we should have brought a proper play making midfielder in in this transfer window on a permanent deal with the Cresswell money. We've needed one for 2 years and this was the only time we've had the cash to do it. Epic fail if we dont Evans and McCarthy.
