Anderson Out to Beat Last Year's Total Tuesday, 16th Sep 2014 06:00 Town midfielder Paul Anderson has still to break his scoring duck this season but he is determined to beat last term’s five-goal tally in the current campaign. Anderson, who was signed in a swap deal that took Jay Emmanuel-Thomas to Bristol City in the summer of 2013, was happy with his contribution in his first season as a Blue. But there is always room for improvement and it has not gone unnoticed that none of Town’s seven goals this season have come from the midfield department. Melton Mowbray-born Anderson, 26, said: “That lack of goals from midfield was something we knew about and spoke about last season and it has been the same this season. We’ve had conversations about the goal tallies that people feel they should be achieving. “I was happy with five last season, which wasn’t bad, but I definitely feel I can contribute more on that side of things. I’m more of an attacking midfielder than, for example, Cole Skuse, who gets asked to do a different job. “You’re not going to expect him to be adding as many goals as maybe I should. He’s doing his job and hopefully I can do a bit more by adding a couple more goals and also a few more assists, which is really what I’m paid to do.” Central defender Christophe Berra goes into tonight’s home clash with Brighton as Town’s leading scorer with three, all from crosses provided by Anderson, who as a result is joint-second in the Championship's assist table. The winger, pictured above celebrating the first of two he created for the Scottish international in the 2-2 draw at Birmingham, added: “I’ve been asked to be on the set pieces and I feel that is a big threat of mine. “I was disappointed the other day against Millwall when I put in a couple of poor balls because I feel I’m better than that. It’s my job to deliver balls into the right sort of areas and unfortunately for me other guys have been on the end of them. “As a team we’ve been doing really well and the lads have been attacking my deliveries. All I can do is put the ball in the right areas for them.”
