Murphy Nominated for Player of the Month
Thursday, 8th Jan 2015 06:20

Town striker Daryl Murphy is amongst the nominees for the Championship's December Player of the Month award.

The 31-year-old is up against Bournemouth’s Harry Arter, a one-time Town trialist, Norwich’s Bradley Johnson and Bolton keeper Andy Lonergan.

Murphy scored six goals in five games during December to take his total for the season to 17. The winner is announced on Friday.

Earlier in the season, Blues left-back Tyrone Mings was named the Player of the Month for September.

For those who haven't seen this have a look - it really cheered me up on a wet Thursday morning and reminded me how lucky we are to have Murphy this season. Also worth noting that McGoldrick is involved in a lot of the goals and will hopefully get back to his best in the second half of the season. http://t.co/0RBo043NDG
I still hope Murphy doesn't win the player of the month just in case the curse is real!!!!!!!

@Carsey Did you notice looking at the videos; most of Murphy's goals have been charging the box; It makes me so happy we shook the mentality of playing to the corners and making crosses or trying to neak in. I still am lost for words trying to comtemplate that this is the same Daryl Murphy we have had in the past!

wkj - I agree he seems to have benefited from whatever TC has been telling him and as soon as he gets a sight of goal he shoots. Long may it last.

Arter's been playing well...between the two of them I reckon...Murph may get it if Howe gets MoM

We better not wear our away kit then if we want him to keep scoring. His transformation has been unbelievable. a lot of those goals would have made it to goal of the month awards!

Keep it up murph!

Watching that video make me realise just HOW good he's been this year. Tap-ins, screamers, you can always count on him to be there and you can practically SEE the confidence flowing through him.

His goal at Cardiff away - we haven't had a player with the confidence to shoot from there for at least the past two-three seasons (with the exception of maybe Leadbitter, but we all know where that ball would have ended up had HE hit it)

When you think what other Championship strikers have moved for - what is he worth today?

I hope we don't find out.

All of his goals in 2014 on this one - and some absolute belters!

Been reading Johnsons stats,he's very good at giving fouls away, playing the long ball, misplacing passes and he's good at heading the ball,so whys he in there why not little Tabby surely he deserves a bit of credit rather than a big footed thug with Canary sized brain, bit strong Bradley but you are a canary after all

Did Lonergan do better than Bart?

Really enjoyed the calendar always-blue. some crackers 7,10, 12, 14 and 21 stood out for me. Murph has to win.

talking of great goals hope Stephanie Roche wins the FIFA goal of the year - http://www.fifa.com/ballon-dor/puskas-award/

What a video of delight, makes us all realise how Class & prolific Murph is this season. Let's hope he gets another 17 in the 2 nod half of the season!
