Taylor Set for Forest Trial
Monday, 29th Jun 2015 08:05

Former Blue Paul Taylor is to join Nottingham Forest on a two-week trial.

Taylor is a free agent having settled his contract with Town in January, although the Blues kept hold of his registration until the end of the season to allow the 27-year-old to move out on loan and he ended the campaign with Blackburn, where he made two starts and three sub appearances.

Earlier in the summer, League One Chesterfield were reported to be interested in the former Peterborough man.

Forest are subject to a Financial Fair Play transfer embargo which prevents them from paying fees but allows them to add to their squad on a one-in, one-out basis up to a maximum of 24 players.

Former Cardiff striker Nicky Maynard, another free agent, is also joining Forest on trial.

I'm surprised Forest are interested as he certainly didn't set the world alight at Rotherham or Blackburn.

Good luck to him though as he was one of our players. I hope it works out for him there. I can't see him getting many games though if the sign him and may just warm the bench for them.

@cartman1972 I'm interested in story , since it was a player who has cost us a lot of money clearly wasn't worth it. As a football fan and Ipswich Fan of course I'm interested in seeing how he gets on and where he will fail next season.

People moan when there is no news stories and moan when a new one gets posted, anyone would think this site is just full of girls

Taylor has a self destruct button ,it all stems from his selfish attitude , one which was obvious was his inability to pass the ball. Head down run down a dead end etc ,just like a school boy on the play ground. He was nothing more than a poor signing and the one in my opinion that made our owner question the paying of fees for players.

A two week trial?
The jury's out on him after his time with us so wouldn't want to judge him on his past but if he goes there with conviction he might get 1 or 2 years, possibly 3 out of them and if they improve on last year could be courting the playoffs perhaps?
Apologies for that long sentence.

He's no where near good enough for the Championship. Maybe league 2 or probably non league.

Ha ha ha, Taylor the "journeyman" that no one wants!

As far as Taylor goes, I'm more interested in how we are going to spend the wages we have saved now he has gone. That goes for the other 12 players we are no longer playing since the end of last season. Plus of course the Mings money. No excuses this year, there must be money to spend!

The thing that stands out to me from this piece is that Nicky Maynard is a free agent - imagine TC getting him back to his best!

I have zero interest in Taylor. Although after all the gloating Forest fans made about us signing their "rejects" McGoldrick, Chambers and Anderson/ "you used to play for a big club" etc at the City Ground in September last year... they're now looking at our rejects. How the tables have turned.

Great player. Just a little bit of an attitude adjustment needed.

Stories about ex-players are always relevant. If Taylor scores 20 goals for Nottingham Forest next season, I bet there will be far more discussion on it on this website than "who cares?".

best wishes to Taylor.... As for Maynard etc.. a reason why he hasn't played and a freebie. We could do with players to hit the ground running, and keep that way
