Ex-Perth Midfielder on Trial at Birmingham
Tuesday, 14th Jul 2015 20:05

Former Perth Glory midfielder Rostyn Griffiths, who was reported to be set to join the Blues on trial over the weekend, is currently on trial at Birmingham City and is in their squad for their friendly at Nuneaton Town this evening.

The 27-year-old free agent, who previously had a trial with the Blues as a 14-year-old, is also reportedly interesting League One Millwall.

Stoke-on-Trent-born Griffiths was raised in Australia and played youth football with ECU Joondalup but returned to England to join Blackburn in 2006.

Having failed to break into the first team at Ewood Park after loan spells at Gretna and Accrington Stanley, he moved back to Australia where he played for Adelaide United, North Queensland Fury, Central Coast Mariners and, until earlier this year, Perth Glory, in addition to a stint in China with Guangzhou R&F.

Elsewhere, Birmingham are reported to have turned down a fourth offer from Reading, claimed to be worth more than £2 million after add-on clauses, for striker Clayton Donaldson.

The Blues have also been linked with the 31-year-old, who is believed to be viewed as a potential target should one of Town's current frontmen move on.

Jonny williams on a season long loan with no re call is the best bet ,see how he is with the injuries. Might cost us a 500k loan fee ,but it could be the difference.

Looks like Reading are going to be a threat this season. They've already made a number of smart signings & still appear to have the funds for multi - million pound bids. Anyone who thinks we're going to stroll our way in the playoff or top two should realise that it's not just Derby & the relegated sides of the last 2 years that can buy their way to attempted glory.
