Town Given Initial 5,500 Allocation for Manchester United Tie
Thursday, 27th Aug 2015 10:56

Town have been handed an initial allocation of 5,500 tickets for the Capital One Cup third round tie at Old Trafford on Wednesday 23rd September, which now kicks-off at 8pm, however, the club say that the Red Devils are helping to ensure that all Blues supporters who want to make the trip should get a seat.

Tickets for the game, the Blues’ first visit to Old Trafford since September 2001, are priced at £45 for adults (21-65), £35.75 for 18 to 20-year-olds, £25.50 for over-65s and 16-17-year-olds and £5 for under-16s but with Town season ticket holders and members receiving a £5 discount (except for under-16s). Prices may vary for tickets subsequently issued in other areas of the stadium.

The initial 5,500 seats are in the upper tier of the East Stand and go on sale via ITFC Direct and Planet Blue, one ticket for each customer number, next week using the usual priority scheme from 9am on the following days:

Gold members - Tuesday 1st September.
Season ticket holders - Thursday 3rd September.
Silver members - Monday 7th September.
General sale - Tuesday 8th September.

You can find full details of ticketing as well as coach travel on the club site here.

The Blues have also announced that the Birmingham match on Friday 18th September (KO 7.45pm), which is live on Sky, will be a Kid for a Quid game with under-16s able to watch the match for £1 in all areas of the ground.

The Bristol City match on Saturday 26th September (KO 3pm) is a season ticket holder promotion game with season ticket holders able to buy a further four tickets for £10 for adults, £8 for concessions and £3 for juniors.

I cannot wait to confirm my ticket. I reckon they will field a second string and we will field a split of young and first teamers. I think we will give them a good run for there money. Am I excited???? Absolutely buzzing. COYB

That all seems fair enough, tickets a bit pricey, but to be expected. Just need to book a cheap hotel in the area now so I can go out in town afterwards and celebrate the win!

£45 to enter the ground , to watch a game in a second rate competition is ridiculous.

Well the itfc link was confusing to say the least. As it says in one bit it's a season ticket promotion with additional adults for a tenner and kids for £3 is this for the brum game or cup game. Can you find out phil please

Was really looking forward to attending this match however after just reading that it's £45 a ticket has left me feeling deflated. What with the ridiculous cost of attending the leeds game aswell I for one am getting priced out of following my team. As someone has quite rightly mentioned the semi final against arsenal was only £10 surely the powers that be have to start doing something about this.

It will be a good effort to sell that out I think, £45, midweek game, long way away, more important game on Friday, League cup.

Even if they dropped the price of a ticket to 1p I wouldn't give them my money! I dislike the arrogant divas nearly as much as the filthy Budgies...

Glad I got that off my chest!

'the Red Devils are helping to ensure that all Blues supporters who want to make the trip should get a seat.'

So, an allocation of about 20,000 then

Maybe Town should give every fan a subsidy to help out? that would go a long way in improving relations between club and fanbase?

Europablue added 11:57 - Aug 27
At 45 pounds per ticket it is good that they are limited to one per customer number.
Vote with your wallet.

Sorry karls dad, but I don't want Town subsidizing the next ridiculously high signing Utd. get in on a whim.
By all means subsidise travel to the game, but not entry.

Was excited about the tie until I saw that. Rip off. Can only presume Man Utd don't want any Town fans there.

Incidentally, Man Utd played a 4th round home tie against Norwich in the League Cup in October 2013 and the attendance was 58,663. That's about 17,000 short of capacity so no real reason to charge as much for so few tickets. Aside from profiteering.

It'll be the owners being greedy, charge 50k fans average of £40 a ticket is £2,000,000 whereas charge £20 a tickets for 70k people is £1,400,000. Football's soul died a long time ago, it's mostly a business these days
