Town Given Initial 5,500 Allocation for Manchester United Tie
Thursday, 27th Aug 2015 10:56

Town have been handed an initial allocation of 5,500 tickets for the Capital One Cup third round tie at Old Trafford on Wednesday 23rd September, which now kicks-off at 8pm, however, the club say that the Red Devils are helping to ensure that all Blues supporters who want to make the trip should get a seat.

Tickets for the game, the Blues’ first visit to Old Trafford since September 2001, are priced at £45 for adults (21-65), £35.75 for 18 to 20-year-olds, £25.50 for over-65s and 16-17-year-olds and £5 for under-16s but with Town season ticket holders and members receiving a £5 discount (except for under-16s). Prices may vary for tickets subsequently issued in other areas of the stadium.

The initial 5,500 seats are in the upper tier of the East Stand and go on sale via ITFC Direct and Planet Blue, one ticket for each customer number, next week using the usual priority scheme from 9am on the following days:

Gold members - Tuesday 1st September.
Season ticket holders - Thursday 3rd September.
Silver members - Monday 7th September.
General sale - Tuesday 8th September.

You can find full details of ticketing as well as coach travel on the club site here.

The Blues have also announced that the Birmingham match on Friday 18th September (KO 7.45pm), which is live on Sky, will be a Kid for a Quid game with under-16s able to watch the match for £1 in all areas of the ground.

The Bristol City match on Saturday 26th September (KO 3pm) is a season ticket holder promotion game with season ticket holders able to buy a further four tickets for £10 for adults, £8 for concessions and £3 for juniors.

Lots of people moaning about £45 but nobody moaning about €40?

It's very clever of the club to discount the season ticket holders and club members not only does it reward the most loyal supporters who contribute the most to the club, it also allows us to see ho on TWTD is one of those fans, by the price they moan about.

You know there are other games you can go to that are a lot cheaper to watch your team so why the fuss?

Europablue Whatever? my post still does not deserve a negative, that is just petty! any help to the fanbase to support the team, and increase the away support has to be positive, if i could get there i would! Unbelieveable to negative!

I don't see why everybody is so surprised at the ticket costs. Supply and demand innit.

Price doesn't put me off. Paid £40 to see us at Carrow Road, for goodness sake. Think THAT was the bigger ripoff!

Let's be honest, Arsenal in 2011 was exceptional. They could easily have charged us a fair amount more and still pulled us in.

8pm KO now. Does that mean it will be televised live?

Well I was about to jump across the North Sea and see a bunch of overpriced, overpaid, balding Mancunians wishing the glory days were back again only for our lads to show them how we do it in Suffolk...with style!

£45 per ticket is Premier League money for a second rate competition. Man Utd will most likely play a second string. Plus, Man Utd won't get a full house so I think everyone will get a ticket who wants one.

£45 ticket cost would be more acceptable if Utd fans in the same section at the opposite end of the stand were charged the same. But they aren't. They are charged a more palatable £38. Completely unjustifiable profiteering. See for yourself: https://goo.gl/ie0vl8

Dublin Blue - because of course you are only allowed to hold or post an opinion on twtd (or probably at all !) if you are a season ticket holder !

Perhaps the first priority of ITFC should be to ensure all those supporters loyal enough to be at Doncaster are guaranteed a ticket for Man Utd.

£45 for a ticket and £36 for the coach in total £81 thats alot of money to see a football match just for one person. It should be at least half price its a joke.

The only good news is that Town get 45% of the gate receipts, which should be approaching £1M based on a crowd of around 50,000. Hopefully they'll use this to keep the admission prices for the 4th round at a reasonable level, should we get a home draw!

It's a shame Man Utd haven't followed the lead of Arsenal, who could have charged a lot more than the £10 / £20 in their semi-final with us and still filled their ground.

No one deserves priority outside of the system already in place. It's down the road for me and if somehow there 5.5k Suffolk based fans who aren't going to blub about paying Premier League prices to go to a Premier League ground and I miss out, well that's life. I won't be on the blower to the EADT offering to pose with my Donny stub in hand and a face like a slapped arse.

All this "club owes me a living" stuff is painful and embarrassing. I blame Clegg and the Blackpool coach fiasco, buying off idiots like that only breeds this culture of wanting everything for free and the club to spend the Mings money. Pack it in eh?

For those on the "I ain't paying any money to those filthy Glazers/Mancs' bandwagon, the profits (less match day expenses) will be shared 50/50 between the clubs. Your argument doesn't really hold.

Tha Rules of the Capital One Cup state that ticket prices have to be agreed between the clubs!!! So obviously ITFC are happy with them?

When we go up these sort of prices will be normal. Top quality demands top prices. Now you know how away fans feel when visiting overpriced PR.

Football is a business these days & United are the biggest - lump it or leave- gonna be a cracking night & a great atmosphere if the blue army can come out in force. As a non season ticket holder that gets to every match possible, cheers to the town for putting the £10 offer on the weekend after- can get to the United & Brighton matches combined for £55... Do wish there was some way for season ticket holders to be rewarded though. Free coach could be a start... COYB great week lined up this.
