Parr Closing in On Move
Friday, 8th Jan 2016 16:15

TWTD understands that Blues full-back or midfielder Jonny Parr is closing in on his move to Norwegian club Strømsgodset.

As reported last Saturday, the Blues have been in talks with the Norwegian top flight side regarding the 27-year-old Norway international, who has been left out of the starting line-up for tomorrow’s FA Cup tie against Portsmouth, although we understand he was initially pencilled in to play.

In addition to Strømsgodset, other clubs in Norway and elsewhere in Europe have also shown interest in the Oslo-born defender or midfielder.

While understood to be happy at Town, Parr has had limited first team opportunities with the Blues this season, having started only three times for Town in the Championship.

Despite Josh Emmanuel having returned from his loan spell at Crawley, the Blues seem certain to bring in cover at full-back and manager Mick McCarthy may want his new addition lined up before Parr’s exit is confirmed.

Parr, whose Town contract is up in the summer, joined the Blues following his release by Crystal Palace in the summer of 2014 and has made 29 starts and 14 sub appearances, scoring three goals.

Real shame it didn't work out, but I guess that's just the way it goes sometimes.

Will we get a fee for him..?

I forget where 'closing in' comes between 'TWTD Understands' and 'Imminent'... what's the time frame between each stage?

Essential that we sign a permanent and more importantly experienced replacement. Mick admitted that the youngsters are just lads and not ready yet, so we shouldn't take any chances and bring in a someone who can cover both full back positions.

Cretinous McCarthy letting one of our more talented players go. Idiotic dinosaur.

Like many I feel sorry for Jonny Parr;but as I said previously, looked certain to be on his way when not included for tomorrows match.
Like JAS feel Mick might go for another full back although would only be cover;but I still think an attacking midfielder is all the first team are missing.

Jonny Williams is back at Palace Mick!? Would like to see ME splash out just one substantial fee on a marquee player, who I think would not cost the earth initially, due to his injury record;bearing in mind Fraser is not ours.Failing that could we not initially get him back on loan if that's allowed, with a view to purchase at the end of the season?

Something has obviously gone on behind the scenes. Otherwise why would you sell your best full back ???

Have had the good fortune of seeing two of Parr's goals in his time at the club. On both occasions I found myself enormously grateful that we had a full-back who could on occasion double up as a finisher of that quality.

I'm not going to criticise the decision as if I know more about what Parr's capable of than those at the club, but this does seem a shame to me as if nothing else, it weakens the depth of our defence.

Good luck Jonny; McCarthy was never going to give you a real chance here more's the pity.

........ absolute shame - this guy has had a very raw deal with us.

Far to good to sit around on the bench knowing that McCarthy isn't going to play him - must be even more annoying for him knowing full well that we have had a very real VACANCY in the team for a proper full back for so, so, so long.

Good Luck Jonny you deserve better than to play under McCarthy- let's hope your next manager appreciates you for the player you most definitely are.

This story has been out a while now and Parr seems as though he is on his way, which i think is a shame but he has not played enough for whatever reason, for himself and ITFC.. If MM thinks it's going to be easy to get a very good player to cover both fullback positions, but sit on the bench all season if both Chambers and Knudson are fit. What sort of player/person is that going to be? A young player who is not experienced, ( We've got them and they never get a chance) or an old journeyman who's at the end of his career and will always likely be always injured, or just happy to sit around and not be playing. It'll be interesting as to who comes in and how MM handles the loss of cover of a proper fullback.

As I've said before. There's more to Parrs departure and kick of 1st team appearances than we are privy too. I just hope MM has someone else lined up.

Have to agree with Bored etc. MM might just get us promoted with hoof ball but finesse is need in the Premiership & he certainly hasn't got that. The one decent full back we have is on his way it seems. Hope if we do get promoted we do exactly the same as Leicester-get a decent manager in. Lets face it MM is an embarrassment not just with hoof ball, his dumb interviews but also with his team selection and some of the players he adores ( Nouble FFS)

....... if your face fits with McCarthy, you're ok - irrespective of your talents, or otherwise.

That's one of the reasons why he has, and never will, cut the ice in the Premiership - and most in Football know that.

Unfortunately, HOOF - just has to be stamped across the forehead - and you're IN.

At some point soon Michael - PLEASE - prove me WRONG. Such, would be gratefully received, and acknowledged.

MM is an honest character in the game which frankly , is refreshing change amidst the games inflated ego's, bank accounts and utter bullshyte spoken by so called elite managers, players and money grabbing legion of foreign owners ruining our game.

Mick McCarthy is great and "up yours" to anyone that trashes him on here. Without him we round probably be already in League Two!

Really can't understand this. Without doubt our best full back, and we don't use him to his full potential, and it seems happy to let him go. Strange.......

Does Sears or Fraser, or Mcgoldrick, or Douglas, or Bru , or AMN have hoof it across their foreheads? Do they hoof it ? Are they his favourites ? Does his team hoof the ball EVERY time?

No, is the answer.

Was that a fair assessment Blue boy?
