HMRC Behind Winding-Up Order Monday, 22nd Feb 2016 13:33 A debt to HM Revenue and Customs was behind the winding-up application made against the Blues at the High Court in London this morning, which was dismissed.
At a brief hearing Fiona Dewar, counsel for HMRC, confirmed that the tax debt had been paid in full and asked for the case to be dismissed.
Outside the court Town’s counsel, Charles Sinclair, who had also asked for the case to be dismissed, wouldn’t comment on the sum involved.
Earlier, MD Ian Milne outlined the situation to Radio Suffolk, while a club spokesperson told TWTD in a statement: “A service provider issued a court petition for non-payment between Christmas and New Year whereby their automated process accelerated this action despite an agreement for payment to be made early January.
“The creditor subsequently withdrew the petition on receipt of payment and this will be dismissed at the hearing today.”

WHATEVER HAS HAPPENED / IS HAPPENING TO OUR CLUB ..... ????? Even the most staunch allies must now have a few jitters - never know what we will hear next. The Cobbold Family must be turning in their resting places.

Its outrageous that ME should put the Club at risk! HMRC wouldnt have issued a winder unless debt was overdue. If this is the way he does business then I'd be very concerned as a supplier. Maybe we now know why ME wont invest in the Club beyonfd just keeping it afloat and relyiong on transfer money. This is not looking good so yje sooner ME sells the better

If the ME brigade can let the club get into such a position, maybe it shows how much he is no longer interested in the club, part of me says it's a shame we did actually pay the debt, and didn't get wound up, would I actually miss the scinterlating style of play we have these days, and that's the sorriest thought I have ever had for our once great team. Still I'll be there tomorrow night hoping that we get something more than a draw, but I won't be holding my breath. If Hull can make ten changes and still hold Arsenal to a draw I really can't see us doing them over. So I'll just take the pain.

Another bad news story for ITFC. Milne saying service provider was a silly thing to do, did he not think people would check? Naive in the extreme! I'm becoming increasingly confused what the current plan is for those who run our club

We must be the only professional club that has had a winding up order issued against us with a sugar daddy as owner. Has the world gone mad!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Woodbridgian added 00:46 - Feb 23
We're not being told the whole story here ! Irrespective of your views of HMRC they don't issue winding up orders because you are a few days late with your payments.! This will be for a long overdue debt and which would of been chased it up on numerous occasions.

Oh my god. When will people read the story in full before commenting? It clearly states that the winding up order was issued by mistake due to an automated procedure. And that this happened after a date for the debt to be paid was agreed, and, indeed had already been paid. So a lot of ado about nothing. In my experience most people leave their tax bill till the last possible moment to pay. As for the comments about ME getting a reputation for paying bills at the last possible moment? Every business pretty much does that. It's common practice. But of course those stating that on here are the usual suspects who will use ne story as an excuse to slate a guy, who, if wasn't here, we wouldnt gave a club to support. As some have said, this is a non story. Even Bolton were in there and they've just been bought so their winding up order no longer valid neither.

As someone who deals with HMRC on a regular basis, I can assure you HMRCs automated systems are laughable and they don't know their ar** from their elbow. Different departments simply fail to communicate with each other on a continual basis, much to our frustration. It's not common, but it certainly happens and doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Nothing really to worry about.

Of course I do not know the facts but this just bad publicity which ever way you look at it and should not be allowed to happen, end of. 3 points tonight and it will all be forgotten.
