Hyam and Douglas Back, Malarczyk Out
Monday, 22nd Feb 2016 13:51

Midfielders Luke Hyam and Jonathan Douglas are available after injury and suspension respectively ahead of Tuesday’s home game against Hull City but central defender Piotr Malarczyk misses out having had a kidney stone.

Regarding Hyam, who has missed the last two games with a calf injury, McCarthy said: “He’s fine, he’s trained the back end of last week and this week now, so he’s fully fit and raring to go.”

The Town boss had no new injuries to report: “They’re all OK. We’ve got Dougie back from suspension, who I thought was excellent prior to that and a little bit unlucky with his three-match ban.

“To have him and Luke back has added a a bit to our midfield and options for tomorrow night.”

With Hyam and Douglas both available again, the Town manager says he’s not currently looking for loan additions.

“That’s on the back burner really,” he added. “We’ve got two good players coming back and with the ones we already have, we’re OK.”

Polish defender Malarczyk has been left out of the 18 for recent games and McCarthy says he won’t be involved against the Tigers.

“Peter’s had a kidney stone,” he said. “Painful I believe, I hope I never find out. He had the procedure done on Wednesday, I’ve spoken to him this morning and he’s fine now. But he’s not trained and isn’t ready for the squad but the stone has gone."

The Town boss says David McGoldrick and Teddy Bishop continue to make progress after their hamstring injuries but isn’t putting a date on their returns.

“Of course, but as to exactly when they’ll be back I don’t know, I’ve no idea,” he said.

“They ought to be out on the grass [soon], but that’s only just starting their running. I wouldn’t out a time on it, but I’m hopeful before the end of the season, definitely.”

Ryan Fraser (hamstring), Cole Skuse (toe) and Giles Coke (knee) also remain sidelined, while keeper Dean Gerken is fit after his shoulder injury and seems likely to be on the bench with Bartosz Bialkowski having been in outstanding form in recent games.

It's a Tuesday night at Portman Road and we have got Hyam and Douglas back in the team to add that missing creativity and flair! Probably not worth Hull turning up is it?!

COYB time to show if we are top 6 or mid table material.
It's not a deal breaker, but it WILL show us how much hope we dare have??

I'd take a score draw against Hull City any day at the moment - and be content as most teams would (but not happy!) but please Mick, don't set up stall for 0-0

Good news. In Hyam's absence we have no-one with properly coiffured hair.

Good to have Douglas and Hyam back. We need them for what will no doubt be a very tough game on Tuesday night. I'm backing us to win 2-1. There are far too many negative vibes on here these days. It could be so much worse, with memories of the dark days of RK and PJ not so long ago. Get behind the team and continue our fantastic Tuesday night run.

Do you think Oar would be getting a game if we still had him?

Well said Muhrensleftfoot IpswichT62 we haven't got Oar so what's the point of dragging that up again let's get behind the team tomorrow that's what we should be worrying about.

Home game. Need to attack and put Hull on the back foot. Will we do so with a midfield featuring Hyam and Douglas? I have my doubts, but time will tell.

Good point Essex57.
It was a thought experiment, trying to fathom the mind of MM.

Glad to have Hyam back, however this is going to be a very tough game. In my opinion, the best team in the division, above Middlesbrough, Burnley and Derby. A very strong team all round, but lets hope Hull have all got a bit too cocky after a good draw at Arsenal and we steal a late 1-0 winner!

COYB!

Whatever side is put on the park need to get on the front foot and in their faces from the off!!!!! Hull like to play football(I remember when we did!!!!) so don't let them or we will be amber arsed!!! COYB

All for getting behind the team tomorrow - BUT if we sit back from the off, instead of taking the game to them - we will get stuffed.

Let's go for the WIN - or have we forgotten how to do that ... ??? Sit back, and our Tuesday night success run ends against these guys.

Dougie was excellent!!! Poor control gave a goal away against Leeds. Poor control got him sent off for a lunge at Birmingham. I think MM is actually losing touch with reality. Does he think we are all stupid?

Kidney stones!!! Isn't that due to a bad food diet??

Good to have more options but not expecting anything more than a point. If team was set up to attack then Douglas could play a good part as he did at Brentford but sadly MM will have him too deep. Will be interesting teamsheet though!

Hull have a very busy week or so - they play on Friday evening as well so will be interesting to see if they put a full strength side out and even if they don't they still manage to hold Arsenal. Big game tomorrow night a win would boost confidence , have a funny feeling we will get something out of it, probably be a draw.

Notice regarding the injuries no date set on McG and Bish coming back...no surprise there, so much for the PR spin machine almost a month back.

Flewitt85 kidney stones are nothing to do with your diet, they just happen, much like gallstones

Flewitt85 added 20:46 - Feb 22
You are at a greater risk of developing recurrent (returning) kidney stones if:
you eat a high-protein, low-fibre diet

This is what I was thinking off
