Robinson Delighted to Be Staying With Town Thursday, 12th May 2016 12:43 Town U21s captain Joe Robinson says he’s delighted to have been offered another year with the Blues. The 19-year-old made his senior debut as a late sub in the FA Cup replay at Portsmouth in January before ending the campaign on loan at Vanarama National League Woking. “I’m absolutely delighted with it, being offered something. It’s a big club,” he told the Haverhill Echo. “It’s another opportunity for me to get my head down and hopefully push on and hopefully get another deal or a regular place, whatever it is, and get my head down and push my career further forward.” Robinson made six starts and one sub appearance for Woking having joined them in February and would be happy to spend another stint out on loan next season. Speaking last month, manager Mick McCarthy said of Robinson: “He’ll be staying, he’ll be the captain of the U21s team. “He’s a great example, he’s one of the youngest in his year and I’ll be brutally honest, six months ago I’d be thinking I probably wouldn’t have kept him. “But he made such a rapid improvement and he’s such a great kid and such a great character and an example to others, I think based on that he’s worth that chance. “He’s a young one in his year and as we all know young scholars, young academics, young professional footballers, if they’re almost 10 or 11 months behind some of the others, their peers, they do take a bit of catching up. “He’s worth it on that basis and he’ll in the U21s, if not we’ll loan him out somewhere because he did well at Woking. That’s his future at the club and hopefully he improves enough to get in the team.”
