Taylor and Huws Handed Debuts
Saturday, 4th Feb 2017 14:30

Steven Taylor and Emyr Huws are both handed their debuts as Mick McCarthy makes five changes as the Blues take on third-placed Reading at Portman Road.

Josh Emmanuel, Toumani Diagouraga and David McGoldrick also return to the XI with the Blues again set to line up in a 3-5-2 system.

The Royals make two changes from the team which beat Birmingham 1-0 in midweek with debutant Jordon Mutch and Yann Kermorgant, who had been out with a calf injury, coming into the team for Roy Beerens and George Evans.

Town: Bialkowski, Emmanuel, Taylor, Chambers (c), Berra, Knudsen, Skuse, Diagouraga, Huws, Lawrence, McGoldrick. Subs: Gerken, Bishop, Pitman, Spence, Ward, Sears, Moore.

Reading: Al-Habsi, Gunter (c), Obita, Moore, Blackett, Swift, Williams, Kelly, Mutch, McCleary, Kermorgant. Subs: Jaakkola, Evans, Beerens, Meite, Popa, Oxford, Grabban. Referee: Geoff Eltringham (County Durham).

WOW, can't really find any fault with this line up.

Simple strategy for Reading.....just target Knudsen on the left. He is completely useless and I cannot understand how he keeps getting selected??
Defence as a whope and midfield looks pretty weak too.
Fearing another Derby !!

Get behind the team. Think we can turn the corner with a result today. Confidence boost would help the team.

I don't think Mick has any idea what his best team is at the moment. Pleased that Taylor starts, we need someone marshalling the back line. I really hope he stays fit, if he does could be are best bit of business all season.

Think Reading have far to much for us today

Somehow I think we should have gone 4-4-2, but this line-up looks better on paper than some we've put out this season. COYB!

Can't argue with that which then makes getting him out all the more important. The right man would get these purring. Today will be dire and we'll concede 3. These lot have had enough of his voice.

Awful amount of fans pressure on Taylor's shoulders! Good luck lad!👍

I know Kenlock is out but Knudsen is a complete liability.
He is an awful defender and offers nothing as a wing back.

5 at the back plus Skuse shows our intent or lack of it. If Reading score early it could be a long night for Bart. Best possible result is already 0-0. Sad times.

As passionate fans of our beloved club the time has come to look within ourselves and say "what are we going to do about this mess?" If we idly stand by and remain silent then we are all passively complicit in this situation. I genuinely believe we are on the cusp of falling into oblivion, such as Coventry, Sheff Utd et al. I for one would like to have a clear conscience that at least I tried. We must find a way to mobilise some sort of protest against how our beloved club is being run into the ground. We must act before it is too late! Evans/Dinosaur out!

He has stuck with Knudsen for 2 years he has not been nearly good enough all season and there should be alternatives in the club.

Knudsen is awful, simply not good enough, a liability. MM has stuck with him for far too long!

Dissboyitfc - based on the fact chambers played at RB for 4 years we can expect him to remain there at least until the end of the Dinos reign!!!! Agree his been awful this season, arguably since he arrived at the club.

Skuse already off : excellent ; terrible player, on a par with Douglas ; has never yet passed the ball forward. A modern-day Colin Viljoen : just awful.

Can't believe fans like the 7 at the back line up. No wonder McCarthy talks to us like idiots!!
