Town Linked With Aberdeen Winger McGinn
Sunday, 2nd Apr 2017 12:00

Town are reported to be the latest club to show interest in Aberdeen’s Northern Ireland international winger Niall McGinn, who is out of contract in the summer and set to leave Pittodrie.

According to the Daily Record, the Blues are the most recent side to have “registered an interest” in the 29-year-old, who scored his 13th goal of the season in Friday's 7-0 win at Dundee.

League One promotion chasers Sheffield United and Bolton Wanderers are also said to be keen on the former Dungannon Swifts, Derry City and Celtic man, who also spent time on loan at Brentford earlier in his career, while Hearts and Oxford United have reportedly both offered him a pre-contract agreement for next season.

Town boss Mick McCarthy is said to be a big fan of the wideman and hopes to bring him to Portman Road.

McGinn, who has won 50 full caps, scoring three goals, was previously interesting the Blues in 2008 when they lost out to Celtic.

The idea of McCarthy making another signing as ITFC manager is just madness.

The fact he's still here is madness enough!

We as yet don't know what division we will be playing in next season and there is a huge question mark over the manager in the summmer be it with him or the club. Why would anyone be talking about targets?

We never play wingers! We sign them but thats as far as it goes. We have strikers and central midfielders to play on the wing!!

Another winger to add to the list of ones that in MM's thoughts are not good enough to play, get in the team or defend enough, wingers, wingers bl**dy wingers, we all know we'd love wingers to rip down the wing, shoot or put crosses of quality in the box, but he just won't feckin let them!!!!!!!!!!!! They must defend and or tuck in and break down the oppositions attack.

We can't afford to compete with Sheffield United or Bolton apparently so... this is a non-starter anyway.

Mick should be told to forget transfers and get on with the job in hand which he is making a right old hash of in the last twenty four months

Bluemachine, if he signed a winger that would free Freddie up to play as left back.

the fact we was interested 8 years ago and he still isn't here says it all, give it another 8 years and just maybe......by then .ITFC will be in a pub league if the tw#ts running the club now are still here .

I was linked with a Audi A6 s line but will probably settle for leasing a Ford Focus estate. A lot of people will still think not a bad purchase but similar to most town story's at present at lot of people are past caring.

Not sure about yet another winger ( who would no doubt sit out games on the bench).

It the defence which is actually poor. Hoe many soft goals is it now?. Which is probably why MM often goes for a defensive midfield to bolster the back line deficiencies. We need to build a back line around Webster, Kenlock and possibly Emmanuel and Spence. I'm not convinced Smith is good enough, whilst Berra/ Chambers ate not the future and are likely to leave in the summer anyway . Building has to begin from the back forwards.

I would suggest there are more pressing matters, such as changing the manager and who knows, possibly even Evans deciding to sell up?

This guy was brilliant in the euros. But why are we being linked with players, when we 'supposedly' don't know who the manager is going to be?

....... why put such nonsense on here ? - just forget it. How many times has this happened with NO end result ? - almost as boring and long playing as McCarthy himself.

Only freebies, has beens, and never will be's, will want to play under such a Manager anyway.
Our Club has lost it's appeal to players with more to offer - and we all know it's true.
