Rotherham Not Only Club Eyeing Moore Loan
Wednesday, 5th Jul 2017 17:58

Rotherham United remain the favourites to sign Blues striker Kieffer Moore on loan but face competition from a number of other clubs, TWTD understands.

Plymouth Argyle are among several other League One sides monitoring the 24-year-old’s situation, while League Two Port Vale and Stevenage as well as Scottish Premiership Partick Thistle are all also interested in the 6ft 5in tall frontman, who joined the Blues from then-Vanarama National League Forest Green Rovers in January.

The recently-relegated Millers are understood to have already held talks with Town regarding their interest in Moore and, as previously reported, right-back Josh Emmanuel.

Moore, who made 11 sub appearances without scoring for the Blues following his £20,000 move, is currently with the Town squad at their training camp at the Carton House Hotel in Co Kildare and boss Mick McCarthy is unlikely to allow him to move elsewhere until he has had a chance to run the rule over him during pre-season.

But as things stand, the one-time Yeovil man looks some way off being a starter at Town once the season begins and a loan spell at a club in a lower league where he would play more regularly could prove beneficial.

Torquay-born Moore has another year left on his contract but with the Blues having an option to keep him for a further season.

Town get their pre-season friendly programme under way away against League of Ireland Premier Division Drogheda United on Saturday afternoon (KO 2pm) when Blues manager McCarthy is likely to field a different side in each half.

Only thing, is if Spence gets injured, it will only mean Chambo playing RB! Would rather Emmanuel stay and fight Spence for the spot!

Just take him. Nothing wrong with taken a punt on these sort of players, as we saw how well it worked with Mings. But he's some way off championship level. Would benefit him and th club if he moved on imo

I'll add the obligatory 'need a lift' comment for effect

Let him go, he is clearly not good enough for the championship and deserves a break.

"...but face competition from a number of other clubs"

I was thinking that number can only really be a 1 or a 2 at most - I'm surprised to read there were more than that

Is it just me or was this guy a typical MM signing? I'd luv to see a list of the last three seasons signings. I suspect it would make enlightening reading.

I've just been talking with some Derby supporters. They are convinced that we are signing Darren Bent. At the right wages he'd be good for us

TBH I see him going back to Forrest Green on a free at the end of his contract.

Be interested to if be does anything should he go out tho

He signed in January, to a club in dire straights, with a midfield not really supplying the type of service he likes, with a huge jump in levels, not to mention the fitness requirements probably being a fairly big jump too.

Let's give him a pre-season and the see what happens shall we?

If he moves to a lower league club if he's good enough he will score goals and the be worth £100-150k, then we could happily sell him! Not good enough for Championship I'm pretty sure.

Would have to agree it's a good idea to let him go out on loan. Not good enough for the championship - by a mile - yet ...

I think this fella could be good, and we really havn't seen enough of him to make a decent judgement

Disappointed with this, I was hoping he was going to cut it with us, not given a decent run of games imo, but I wish him the best of luck and hope he bangs them in for fun wherever he goes.

I am unsure as to why you would want to loan him out, unless we really are going to start playing the ball on the floor. I am unsure he has really been given a chance with 5 mins here and 10 mins there. As much as we all like pretty football there is a time and a place where sometimes you just have to get it up there and see if you can unsettle the opposition and force things to happen.
I am sure Garner has been bought to do a similar role, but he is not 6'5".
Moore is presumably cheap having come from non league football so it will not save us a fortune by sending him out on loan.
I think we need to give the lad a chance

Been impressed with Emmanuel and would like to see him stay and compete for start. Moore would flourish and hopefully toughen up a little on loan

Moore looked OK at Huddersfield but not after. Struggled in a mess of a team but probably not going to make it at ITFC.

We need to sign a right back - I really am not sure about Spence at all- going forward and in defence, Emmanuel looks to lack a bit of quality on the ball, Chambers will not be playing right back if we play 5 (or 3 ) at the back. Without Berra , Webster injury prone - Smith coming back - we probably need a Centre back as well.

At 24 he is still young enough - just - to learn and develop. If he can learn his trade, either with us or in a lower league side, he could become a useful asset. I suspect it all comes down to how much he wants it and how much work he is prepared to put in - as well as the type of football we're going to play. But as he cost us very little it would seem foolish to let him go without properly giving him a chance to prove himself, pre-season and the first half of the season may well be that chance.

My only caveat to this is that I've not yet seen him play. But like all players at PR, I want him to succeed and make it for his sake and those of ITFC.

Hard to judge a young player who has only been used as a sub and was playing in a team completely downcast by the awful tactics of the worst manager on earth. Countdown to hoofball has begun. MICK OUT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!

good luck to him ,I totally agree with dirtyboy , I realise he has made a big jump up from his old club ,however I think its a bit hard on him ,if he is only judged on brief sub appearances, front men were starved of supply last season, I STILL THINK ,McCarthy was our problem last season [and previous one ] with his dire, dour tactics and decisions, and I'm afraid I think this will prove to the case this coming season, he seems totally inflexible ,with his stubborn mind set .

Surprised he's interesting a recently relegated Championship side. Thought he'd be conference/league two at best.

He could have as much service as he wanted and would still be poor , watched him a lot at non league level and he was average at that standard ,way off championship level .
