Reading and Bolton Join Town in Eyeing Tunnicliffe
Monday, 10th Jul 2017 11:17

Reading and Bolton are reported to have joined the Blues in showing interest in free agent former Town loanee Ryan Tunnicliffe.

Last month, TWTD revealed that Mick McCarthy is weighing-up whether to bring the 24-year-old, who left Fulham at the end of last season, back to Portman Road.

Now, according to HITC Sport, the Royals and the Trotters are also keen on the one-time Manchester United youngster.

Tunnicliffe previously spent time on loan with the Blues in the first half of the 2013/14 season when with the Red Devils, making 24 starts and five sub appearances without scoring.

The Heywood-born midfielder, who we understand would be keen on a permanent move to the Blues having enjoyed his time at Portman Road, was due to stay with Town for the whole season but was sold to Fulham in the January window.

The former England U16 and U17 international ended last season on loan at Wigan, his second spell with the Latics, having also spent time as a loanee at Peterborough, Barnsley and Blackburn earlier in his career.

Well worth having on a free if played at CM this time - not shoved left wing like last time along with Alan Quinn / Tabb.

Currie10 he was shoved left wing, due to his work rate and the fact he wasn't good enough to play in the centre. For me this spoke volumes that he was played on the wing and not in his preferred position

Already have Adeyemi, Huws, Skuse, Bishop, Hyam, Dozzell. Think we need more on the wings and another good striker.

See him as squad player only, suggests he goes elsewhere as won't want to be

Can't see how he'd get into the Reading squad, so surprised about the rumour that he might be going there.....

We've got a decent core of CMs now, so do we really need him? At best he will be a decent squad player. Better than Coke, Toure, Digby etc. Would prefer us to spend wages on another wide man and spend a fee getting in a proven goal scorer - from abroad if need be.

No thanks. He doesn't add anything to us.

Why do people keep saying we need more wide players? We already hsve Ward, Rowe and Celina. Only 2 can play at any one time. Plus Sears can play wide if required. So dont are we need anymore.

Agree with most posts here. We have enough Midfielders & also wingers. We desperately need a tall target man/striker.

Our current wide options are weak. I think Rowe could do with a season out on loan, Ward is better in a midfield 3 and Sears is as good a winger as Chambers is a right back! That leaves Celina. We NEED another wide man. A good one.

Another one who didn't impress. Can't see that he will improve the squad.
