Blues Linked With Bodvarsson Loan
Tuesday, 11th Jul 2017 12:03

Town are reported to be showing interest in signing Wolves winger or striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson on loan.

According to Tim Nash, the former Wolves writer for Express & Star, the 25-year-old Iceland international is set to be offloaded having not travelled to Austria for a pre-season trip with the rest of the squad.

Reports elsewhere say he has merely been given additional time off having rarely had a break during the last couple of years due to his domestic and international commitments.

Bodvarsson started his career with Selfoss in his home country before moving on to Norwegian club Viking, German side Kaiserslautern and then Wolves in the summer of 2016.

Last season 6ft 3in tall Bodvarsson made 24 starts and 24 sub appearances for Wolves, scoring three goals.

Against Town at Molineux last August Bodvarsson, who has been capped 32 times by Iceland, scoring twice, won a penalty which he then took and had saved by Bartosz Bialkowski.

Meanwhile, former Town striker Daryl Murphy is being linked to a return to Sunderland on loan from Newcastle.

Nottingham Forest are also said to be keen to take the Ireland international on loan, while Aston Villa reportedly want to sign the one-time Celtic and Waterford United man on a permanent basis.

Recent links with Norwich City appear to have nothing in them, while TWTD understands Middlesbrough have also registered their interest on taking the 34-year-old on loan.

A McCarthy type player, so fits the mould, a workhorse and full of energy.
A taller Freddie Sears!
Good signing if it comes off.

That's a pathetic goal scoring record. Getting rid of pitman and bringing in this guy would be a huge downgrade

A friend of mine is a Wolves fan, his summary when I mentioned this story - "...couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo!"

Completely pointless. After a promising start to pre season - bringing in permanent players with a bit of quality, it now seems to be back to the frees and loans. Although there is an argument for signing highly promising youngsters from top PL clubs on loan, where is the ambition signing championship players who Wolves don't want on loan? Terrible goal scoring record.

Let's just hope we don't sell Bart for significantly more than Evans has spent total this Summer. That happened the previous two seasons. Spin machine worked overtime then!

Just a link, likely that there's no truth in it. Relax everyone.

At the same time, wouldn't be a bad signing, but would rather keep pitman or look elsewhere

Played one good game against us so he sounds like he fits the bill for McCarthy.

Showing (loan) interest in rejects from other poor Championship sides. Welcome to modern day Ipswich Town.

LOAN NO THANKS

WHAT WE NEED IS OUR OWN PLAYERS NOT LOANS !

I wouldn't mind him joining us, although as others have written he is not a goalscorer and if we are spending money on a loan player from another Championship club that is more money not put towards Evans' 5-point plan which I like to keep reminding everyone of:

‘To make annual investment funds available to purchase players in the early stages of their career and to assist in their development'

When are we going to make some signings in line with that plan?

How many scouts do Ipswich actually have? I sometimes wonder if we're down to just 2 neither of which are being given any mileage allowance! One seems to camped in his sleeping back in the dug out of Molineux and the other appears to have gone AWOL in Ireland perhaps sidetracked organising all our pre-season matches rather than unearthing any talent! Please can we not start to look on the continent for players instead of confining our search to Wolves and Ireland? Wolves rejects and Irish league players are not the answer!

Pathetic. Goal scoring record speaks for itself! No thankyou.

And we've got 2 ex-Wolves rejects in our dug out already and they're doing plenty enough damage as it is!

Superblue - Pitman is good technically, but a lazy player. Although this guy doesnt score many, he is younger and has pace to burn.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe Shefki Kuqi was originally a loan from a divisional rival in Sheffield Wednesday. That didn't turn out too badly, did it?

Interesting how many people complain about loan signings,I'm sure they were very upset with Williams, Fraser, Lawrence and Huws amongst others. Also, Huddersfield had a lot of loans last season, and they seemed to do quite well.

Sure, I would love to see us field a team full of Town academy products and be successful, or at least a team owned totally by us, but this is modern day football. We can't even match clubs for a player who wants to be here, when other clubs in our division are bidding for. So if we can build a team that can at least challenge playing a few loans signings, I'll take it, and I'm sure those whiners out there will too.

Know Wolves fans, they say he is absolutely garbage.

Have a mate who is a Wolves fan, and says this guy works really hard and is actually used out wide too much and not centrally which suits his game alot more. He's tall but has good pace and can hold up the ball incredibly well apparently. Played striker twice last season and one was against us where he bagged two.

But having said that, we know Mick likes playing square pegs in round holes, so who knows?

I remember reading last season about people saying no Huwe's is rubbish cant get in a pour Cardiff side and Lawerance who was dog pooo while on loan at Blackburn and they both turned out to be our seasons saviour's!!! To many forgetful people in the world!! Id luv us to be linked and sign the superstars of the world but if your all to thick to realise thats just not gonna happen at this club then Jog On and support another club!! Lets hope he plays on the wing more and turns out to be another Lawerance of the world for us!!

Well said Midas

MM doesn't have any scouts and relies on "friends" and his own Irish drinking pals. Apart from his golfing trips I doubt MM has any Continental experience that he could draw from.
That's why I have no confidence that he'll sign the right sort of players to take us to top 6. It's no coincidence that he signs players who have played against Town as he's too lazy to look further afield. MM OUT

Every team needs workers who never stop running and covering for team mates but the ultimate aim is to put the ball in the opponents net. I don't care if a striker only touches the ball twice in 90 minutes if the ball ends up in the net. We NEED a goalscorer!!!
Some of the greatest ever goal scorers weren't great footballers they just scored goals. Goal hangers (as they were once called) don't exist now but I'd rather have a striker in the box lurking with intent than hunting for the ball in midfield.. How many get overlooked because they aren't technically gifted or don't work hard enough.
I actually believe that Pitman would score 20 a season given the chance but MM doesn't like his work rate.

just what we need , a veritable goal machine!24 STARTS 24 SUBS and 3 GOALS ! no doubt about it, he's the Dadi. , Ooh dear HERE WE GO, HERE WE GO, HERE WE GO. So uninspiring this will probably happen .

he's scored 3 goals, that pic is probably of a back pass .That said, that would sit well with '' Super Mac .''
