Hyam, Adeyemi, Celina and Rowe in U23s Facing Blades
Tuesday, 29th Aug 2017 12:27

Town have confirmed that Luke Hyam, Tom Adeyemi, Bersant Celina and Danny Rowe are all in the U23s squad for this evening’s game against Sheffield United at Portman Road (KO 7pm).

Hyam, 25, is continuing his comeback after a knee injury and will be playing his third U23s match, while Adeyemi will be making his first appearance in a Town shirt.

The 25-year-old, who signed on a free transfer following his release by Cardiff at the end of last season, missed the whole of pre-season and then first month of the campaign proper having initially been ill before picking up a calf injury.

Loanee winger Celina, 20, and fellow wideman Rowe, 25, have also both suffered from illness during recent weeks, limiting their involvement in the first team.

A number of the young players who impressed in the Carabao Cup tie against Crystal Palace last week will also feature.

Start of a decent midfield that.

I'm going along tonight and looking forward to it. Anyone know why so many of the U23 games are played on a weekday lunchtime at Playford Road? Is that a relatively new thing? I thought they all used to be at Portman Rd in the evening.

Well let's hope we don't pick up any more injuries (or illness) between now and the next game

Great news about Adeyemi and Celina (best player on the pitch at Palace in my view) but I have to say I'm less excited about Hyam and Rowe. Hyam's only skills are hard tackling and ball winning and I don't think there is a Championship or League 1 club that would accept his inability to pass the ball to a team mate or be in the slightest bit creative. I was ashamed when he took out Alan Judge of Brentford and consider Downes to be 10 times the player that Hyam is. As for Rowe, the jury remains out but he is running out of time because he has never impressed.

Very puzzling comments about Rowe TBT, injured for most of his time here, ill and not had a run. Apparently very good off the bench and from what I can see a very good signing for the money so far.

Agree with you about Hyam however, not a massive fan however good to have him back and an option.

Feel for Adam McDonnell though! Apparently did very well at Palace, then has to be sub for the U23s for others to get gametime. I'd be incredibly hacked off with him, especially Mick singling him out and suggesting he should go on loan.
