Skuse Back in Training and Expected to Be Fit for Hull Trip
Wednesday, 15th Nov 2017 11:03

Midfielder Cole Skuse is back in training and is expected to be fit for Saturday’s trip to Hull City.

Skuse, 31, was substituted in the first half of the 3-0 home victory over Preston North End prior to the international break.

"“Skusey suffered a badly bruised shin and didn’t train last week but he is back out there now and should be in contention for the weekend,” Town physio Matt Byard told the club site.

Midfielder Emyr Huws, 24, is also likely to be with the squad which travels to the KCOM Stadium after playing three U23s matches having recovered from the achilles injury which has prevented him from making a senior appearance so far this season.

Teddy Bishop, 21, played and scored in last Friday’s 2-2 U23s draw at Millwall having undergone groin surgery in August but is probably still a little way off a return to the first-team squad."

and we looked so much better without skuse as we always do.
Nydam & Downes can do the dirty work that Mick gets almost sexually aroused about as well as Cole & are more creative to boot.
Go figure Dino

Personally,if he's passed fit I would leave him on the bench. The midfield against Preston was more than addiquet when Skuse's went off injured.🤔

Fair enough, the midfield disruptor/enforcer role is a crucial one - and one often overlooked by fans who are obsessed by more attacking roles. But Skuse is so limited as a player - no pace, no vision, limited passing ability, no goal-threat. He is good positionally, and thus can break things up a bit - but that is not enough. When he has the ball we slow right down - ok if you are prepared to pass through the opposition, but if your tactic is to surrender 75% posession then you need to get the ball forward quickly once you have it. I think we all feel that results were better last season when he was out of the team - and it was no surpise that things picked up when he went off against Preston. He's emblematic of everything that is wrong with the McCarthy era at this club....

Straight in the team. No shots on target first half. Mick delighted.

The least deserving player in Ipswich history to be a regular starter. Adds absolutely nothing other than being a token defender

Personally think Skuses continued selection over others at the club has cost us in recent seasons but have no doubt MM will have him straight back in the team to try and hold on for a good 0-0 at Hull

No need to throw out the tactics board then Dino, the cemented 'Skuse' remains.

Is this good or bad news?

In other news, Huws could partner Skuse, who had a bruise, or take Bru's place on the bench.
Who will Mick choose to use? We must not lose.

"Skuse, 31, was substituted in the first half of the 3-0 home victory over Preston North End prior to the international break". We were better in the second half. That's all I'm saying.

Analytical comment is fair enough but personal abuse and sexual innuendo is not.

I'd have him on the bench. Add's good experience and if we can take the lead and need someone to shore things up he can do that. Wouldn't start him but not a bad replacement. If we are losing matches we shouldn't be bringing him on but I do think Mick would.

Huws and Downes (and Nydam if playing a 3 in midfield) is surely the way to go now with Bishop to come on if we behind and Skuse to come on if we need to shore it up. Surely that is the only productive role Skuse has to play going forward.....except if you are MM.
.
Go on Mick,m prove us wrong and play a progressive midfield for once and a balanced strike force in front. Just once will do.

Not a positive comment to be said on Skuse so far, but hey the Dino knows best! MM stated a few weeks ago that Huws, Adeyemi & Skuse were his main men, personally, as this potentially will be another nothing season I would give the youths more of a chance, but we all know that won't happen on a regular basis, unless injuries continue to force his hand!

Pleased that an injured man gets fit again but for me Skuse' race is run and he should not be in our starting line up.
Gareth Southgate has had the gumption to play the youngsters so I would like to see our manager do the same.
Like some others have commented, he would be a good one to have on the bench when we are trying to protect a lead.
