Town Accept Peterborough Bid for Moore
Wednesday, 3rd Jan 2018 10:14

Peterborough United director of football Barry Fry has revealed that Town have accepted a Posh offer for striker Kieffer Moore, but that a deal is not yet a fait accompli.

“We have had a bid for Kieffer Moore accepted by Ipswich,” Fry told Peterborough Today. “But there are a lot of add-ons attached which our chairman might not fancy.

“We believe Moore playing alongside Jack Marriott with Marcus Maddison supplying the crosses would be formidable in League One.

“Moore has done well for Rotherham this season and obviously they also want him so we will have to wait and see.”

It’s speculated that the initial fee is £250,000, although that would appear unlikely as it’s understood Rotherham have offered a figure which would eclipse their record fee of £500,000, coincidentally paid to Posh for midfielder Jon Taylor in August 2016.

Moore, 25, who was recalled from his loan spell at Rotherham at the start of the month, is also interesting a number of other League One clubs, including Charlton, Scunthorpe, Bradford and Wigan.

Speaking last night, manager Mick McCarthy wouldn't comment on developments regarding Moore - "I can’t tell you anything" - but he confirmed that if the striker features for Town he can’t play for anyone else other than the Millers this season due to FIFA’s three-club rule.

“That’s correct, or stay with us,” he said. “He can’t play in the cup anyway. That gives us a bit of thinking room, I guess.”

Why the meltdown about a speculated fee?

Give me Marriot and Moore over Sears and Didz every day! I am a fan of the target man/little terrier combo and think it would be a great move by Posh!
Sears is shot to bits and been destroyed by MM and Didz is just too slow and ponderous imo, highly overated!

I expect Moore's transfer fee will be 'undisclosed'.

I do hope we aren't rushing to give away a decent asset (Rhodes anyone?)

Seen this on the Millers forum:
"Ipswich can afford to wait a few weeks yet."

What Moore could go wrong in these past 24 hours...

If this story is true then there better be a decent sell on clause (i.e. 40% plus)

Division 1 player, good luck to him! He's another player our tight fisted club hoped beyond hope something might develop into a 'gem' . He's not , end off!

No one knows the fee. But it will not be 250k guranteed, unless a player in return from there but still seems unlikely.
Personally think it's a clever move from MM and ME. Realistically they know he won't be getting in front of Waghorn/Garner/McGoldrick due to the fact they've been constantly scoring goals in this league all season. Would be a different story if we haven't been scoring goals.
So whilst he seen as 'hot property', perfect time to sell him for optimal money through a bidding war.
Good business all round.

This is another almighty mess up!! He may well become yet another Jordan Rhodes. We had him, sold him for peanuts and we will watch him bang goals in somewhere else. We never even gave the lad a chance!! It's just crazy business and crazy football management. Incredible short sighted. He may well now join Jack Marriott who also never got a fair chance here. It will be SO embarrassing if those two become an awesome partnership. Is our club now so desperate for such a small profit in the grand scheme of things???

We sell Kieffer to Peterborough.. Mick stays on as manager.. Kieffer & Marriot score the goals to get Peterborough promoted.. Next season Kieffer scores the winner to send us to league 1.

The Ipswich way.

Rotherham saying the bid has eclipsed the clubs record fee doesn't mean the initial figure has, just the total offer has so wouldn't be surprised if the offer is somewhere in that region and although he's done well most goals seem to of been tap-ins so I'd be more interested in the midfield players supplying him.

Barry Fry completely contradicting himself.

There are a lot of add ons which our chairman might not fancy.

So the offer can't have been accepted....

This just gets better and better. Why are we selling on the 3rd of Jan for what would be a hugely in demand striker come the end of the transfer window.

A gangling giraffe, Peter Crouch comes to mind, and look how many goals he scored!

OK I get it that if we play him then we can only sell to Ritherham this season. But what's the hurry if he's only worth a few 000s !
Agree with many posts that Sears isn't good enough and should loaned or sold. Also not convinced about Didz, he looked very slow last time so for me we only have Joey and Waggy and both are under 5 10". Moore would offer height and enthusiasm (found wanting in Sears and Didz) plus we've got youngsters that are ready.
I'd play Waggy behind strikers say Joey and Moore esp as we're running out of midfielders. Selling Moore is madness so just hope its paper talk.

If we're selling why not let him stay at Rotherham and bang another 20 goals in the net. Then at the end of the season he would be 2x what he's worth today.
What were we doing with Berra and Pitman? couldn't we have got £250k for these players?

Is it just me, or doesn't this read as though Posh have made an offer, but we haven't accepted it (as the headline says) but rather bounced it back with our own load of conditions, which is why Fry says his chairman might not like it. If we'd actually accepted the offer then his chairman wouldn't have anything to think about.

Surco72: Spot on lad!
I've seen KM play in the early days after he came from F G Rovers, not impressed then & not impressed now. Cash in-player out-move on.

Interesting and confusing all at the same time.....

Sears is short on confidence and a loan away would be good for him as a STRIKER -- but he is as good as Ward as a midfielder .... isn't he?

Plus his wages are POSSIBLY much higher than Moore so harder to loan out unless we pay a proportion.

Also - Marriott and Moore have performed in league 1 ... not championship, and you can perhaps include Pitman in that (even though I liked him as a player!)

So what is to say that any of them can make an impact in the championship? Moore tried and failed last year ... so did Pitman, having been let go by AFC Bournemouth because he wasn't good enough after their promotion ...

I just don't think they are better than what we have ... including the new tall signing from Irelend (ie don't need unproven Moore) and the young skillful lads (don't need unproven Marriott) and McGoldrick, Garner and Waghorn (don't need Pitman)

We kept Connor Wickham when we let Rhodes go .... and remember he WANTED to go ... so maybe it was that the manager had to make a choice and keep one only ....

There has to be a limit to how many players we can keep "just in case they are gems of the future" and so i THINK that we are right to cash in on Moore whilst he is scoring freely (his value will drop if and when he stops scoring )

Sorry - confused ramblings rather than clear points ... hope someone understands all this better than me !!!

Yeah, incredibly short sighted to buy a player for £20k and sell him on for a few hundred thousand profit.

What planet are you lot on? He's not better than Waghorn, McGoldrick and Garner....sell on clauses will ensure we get value added on should he become the next big thing.

Tell them price is 1.5 mil after all that's what we paid for that waste of space Taylor

Maybe we need the money to pay off MM..

Gcon added 16:28 - Jan 3
He is clearly going for at least £500k.
MM bought him for £20k.
He spent time assessing him before sending him on loan.
Only the usual miserable sods on this site could find the negatives in this and use it to berate MM. Funny how this player was getting called useless on here until fairly recently.

Yes I'd dump a lot of the crud from our squad before selling Moore. The fact he'd be joining Marriott (21 goals so far this season), another promising player who we jettisoned, adds insult to injury. The likes of Sears are finished and should be off the wage bill ASAP.
