McCarthy in France
Monday, 12th Feb 2018 10:45

Town boss Mick McCarthy was spotted travelling to France on Sunday morning.

If the Blues manager was making a scouting trip, there were only a few games taking place in France yesterday, just three in Ligue 1.

In the afternoon, Strasbourg defeated Troyes 2-1 and Nantes and Lille drew 2-2, while his former club Lyon were beaten 2-0 at home by Rennes in the evening.

While McCarthy and MD Ian Milne have both said in the last few days that no decision has been made on whether the 59-year-old will remain at Portman Road after the end of this season, the Town manager has said he is working as if he will still be in charge beyond the summer.

“I will continue doing that until the season finishes or whenever my future is determined,” he said speaking just over a week ago.

Calm down now folks...as I'm pretty sure it will turn out to be something as simple & innocent, as his much much "Better Half" Fiona just sending Mick out hunting for some literally FRESH *Cuisses de Grenouille*

a.k.a. Frog Legs!, as it is her turn to host the local gourmands of *The Bromley Rose Growers Society Club* :-) :-) :-) :-)

Fed up hearing about lack of spending being the reason we are playing poor football.

How much did Sir Bobby spend?..or Lyall or Burley or Royle or Magilton (before Evans)..they all got us playing brilliant football (compared to what we've churned out for the last 8 or 9 years).

We've obviously got talented players who are capable of playing attractive/attacking football BUT we have a manager & coach who are holding them back and are tactically very very poor.

This HAS to change.

Following on from "Chatty"'s comments. Barney do have another French Connection.

Their Chief Executive is Gauthier Ganaye who apparently did a decent job at Lens and whose job it is at Barnsley to "play a significant role in the running and development of the club"

Knowing Mick he probably saw these French Connections and went on a random booze cruise just to wind us fans up......cos it couldn't be true.....could it ?

Well said Biff. Absolutely summed it up in a nutshell. The football is really naff but league position could be a lot lot worse. MM should be praised for what he's doing with the resources available, instead he gets pilloried. Don't get it. It's all about money and Town just don't have any at the moment.

I'm with Biff . Those who say Sir Alf etc. had no money have obviously got their eyes shut to the current transfer values for mediocre players

Biff & Inghamspur: I think both of you maybe missing the point.
I really don't think it's just down to money, the squad he's got, in my eyes, is pretty good [given the money he's had at his disposal].
The squad he put out against Burton was probably the one 90% of fans would have chosen.
That's not my/our quibble, it's the tactics & style of play he consistently plays. The continuos choice of Chambers & Skuse rather than look to other players. Sadly, it's "his way or way" kind of football.
How many pre/post interviews have you heard MM say "we tried to stifle them" or "we stopped them playing football". For heavens sake man, just go out there, identify their weakness & have a bloody go, that's all we wish for, have a good go!

I'm a season ticket holder who will renew regardless of who's in charge as I enjoy the people in my area [North Stand lower] & I've got a really good seat. Plus, & more importantly, I'll still be here when MM departs & very sadly, that cannot come quick enough.

Please don't give me that old chestnut "be careful who you wish for" we're all well past all of that.

Totally agree 1RWR some fans are t happy with what mm dish up the man sets his team up not to lose instead of going for the win and that leaves entertaining football out of the window he play players who don't deserve to be in the team I/e chambers skuse why not put Webster and the lad from Tottenham together or perhaps they aren't proper blokes mcarthy need to go and that's why I and a few thousands other fans want

I'm 43.

I have no idea who Roger Williams is, apologies.

I have enjoyed reading the comments on here today, cornishblue had me in stitches 😂

You have to have a sense of humour being a town fan and their hasn't been any name calling amongst each other, which for want of a better adjective, is nice......

It's obvious where Mick's gone, his wine rack isn't good enough for Premier league managers so he's gone to replace it. Man of his ability will surely be in the prem next season with or without us😂😂

Regarding the comments on MM's style of play and tactics. WE all know what they are and so does EVERY manager of EVERY team we play. Nothing changes with MM. Our squad is good, our youngsters are good (although mostly playing elsewhere) so just let them play football and stop telling them that every other team is better than them and in a false league position. How about telling your own players that they are good and telling them to go for it!!
