Posh Winger and Grayson Linked
Tuesday, 15th May 2018 18:06

Town, Nottingham Forest and Bristol City are all reported to be keen on Peterborough United winger Gwion Edwards, while former Bradford, Preston and Sunderland boss Simon Grayson is the latest manager to be linked with the Blues.

According to HITC Sport, Posh are anticipating summer interest in the 25-year-old former Swansea and Crawley man with the trio of Championship clubs all keeping tabs.

The former Wales U21 international has another year left on his contract at London Road.

Reports linking the Blues with summer targets ought to be taken with a pinch of salt while the Blues are still to appoint a new manager, who will no doubt have his own ideas on recruits.

While director of football Dave Bowman, who is effectively the club’s chief scout, remains at Portman Road he is expected to follow former manager Mick McCarthy when he gets a new club, having previously worked alongside him at Wolves, Sunderland and the Republic of Ireland.

Meanwhile, speculation regarding McCarthy’s successor continues with Grayson, who left Bradford after a short spell, reported to have been contacted by the Blues.

It would be a surprise if an established Championship boss such as Grayson was seriously in the running for the Town job with owner Marcus Evans appearing to favour a more up-and-coming appointment this time around.

Among those interviewed so far are St Mirren’s Jack Ross - who Evans is speaking to for a second time this week - former Aston Villa and Spurs boss Tim Sherwood and Tottenham’s U18s coach Scott Parker, while we understand Shrewsbury manager Paul Hurst also remains very much on the radar.

Meanwhile, Town have begun the annual renovation of the Portman Road pitch, which suffered badly during the winter, particularly during a rainy and fixture-heavy January. The surface is scraped off before being reseeded. Groundsman Ben Connell's Turf Journal can be found here.

Another day - another name - cant think of many people in the world who have not been linked with the job. Grayson would be a disastrous choice. For me its Ross or Hurst.

I would really like it to be Lampard, I reckon he is going to make a very good manager. Articulate, sensible and passionate. Maybe too early though.

NOOOOOOOOO to Grayson, [but cant believe he is really in the frame ] as for us chasing players , I cant get that one, surely transfers in or out must only be considered when new manager is appointed .

What a waste of turf. My garden is full of daisies and it would be my privileged to have a lawn made from the hallowed PR turf!

As with the majority on here, it is a resounding No! to Grayson. I am glad that ME is taking his time, hopefully we end up with the right person. If it's not Ross or Hurst I would rather see Gary White than a totally inexperienced ex player such as Lampard. No disrespect to Frank but he needs to cut his teeth in a lower league to both gain some experience and see exactly what is needed.

Anybody with any connection to Sunderland should be immediately put out of the running, we've tried the Sunderland connection over and over again and it nearly always ends in tears!
