New Signing Edwards on Bench at Crawley
Tuesday, 17th Jul 2018 18:48

New signing Gwion Edwards is on the bench for this evening's friendly against his former club Crawley at East Grinstead alongside fellow winger Jordan Roberts, also previously a Red Devils player (KO 7.30pm).

The Blues have taken a 17-man squad to East Court, a much reduced party from the one which lost 2-0 at Braintree on Saturday.

Keeper Bartosz Bialkowski isn’t involved, despite having returned to the club yesterday, while a number of the fringe youngsters who came off the bench at Braintree on Saturday haven’t travelled, presumably as there are U23s games at Lowestoft tomorrow and AFC Sudbury on Thursday.

As at Cressing Road, Joe Garner, Tom Adeyemi, Emyr Huws, Teddy Bishop and Danny Rowe are all absent through injury or as they are working their way back from longer-term problems, while Jonas Knudsen is still away on his post-World Cup break.

Town: Gerken, Spence, Kenlock, Chambers (c), Woolfenden, Ward, Dozzell, Skuse, Nydam, Waghorn, Sears. Subs: Wright, Emmanuel, Downes, Edwards, Roberts, Folami.

Thought the players coming back from injury should be getting game time?
Or does the sword of Damocles hang over them??

I presume that it's 4-4-2.

The team looks to be crying out for a central defender and a target man up front.

I would have had Downes ahead of Skuse.

Bit disappointed Cotter is not in the squad, was hoping for a battle between him and Emmanuel for the right back of full back birth this season after impressing massively on his debut.

The injured players are becoming a real worry. Said it Saturday, but we can't rely on Huws, Adeyemi or Bishop.

Squad looking fairly weak still.

Any ideas who he says is not showing the potential that he was told?
Hopefully sees a positive reaction tonight.

As PH already said better to ease them back then rush them and have them breakdown after a couple of games and be out for another long spell.

Not a great first half. Woolfy looking good and big enough to compete
