Shrews Deal and Waghorn Move Set to Be Confirmed Tuesday
Monday, 6th Aug 2018 21:18

Jon Nolan and Toto Nsiala’s joint-move from Shrewsbury to the Blues is set to be confirmed in the morning with Martyn Waghorn’s switch to Derby also expected to be finalised tomorrow.

As TWTD revealed this morning, the duo arrived at Portman Road early today to discuss personal terms and to undergo their medicals. Only minor details relating to their signings, which will see the Blues pay the Shrews almost £2 million, remain to be completed.

Waghorn, 28, is reported to have agreed personal terms with the Rams but with his medical still to be completed. As previously reported, the Blues will receive an initial £5 million with the figure potentially rising to £7.5 million after top-up clauses.

Elsewhere, Blackpool manager Gary Bowyer has resigned with assistant manager Terry McPhillips taking charge on a caretaker basis.

What impact that development will have on Town targer Curtis Tilt’s situation remains to be seen.

Speaking at the weekend, Bowyer appeared to feel the 27-year-old deserved a move to the Championship with majority shareholder Owen Oyston apparently loath to sell the central defender.

“It’s not up to me I’m afraid,” Bowyer said when asked whether he thought Tilt might stay at Blackpool. “The lad wants to play at a higher level, who can deny him? Well I know who can deny him, of course.”

The 26-year-old, who Town have been trying to sign since June, recently handed in a transfer request. He was left out of the Seasiders' side which drew 0-0 with Wycombe at the weekend.

The Blues have made a number of offers, the latest believed to be £700,000, while Blackpool have set their price at £1 million and have been unwilling to accept less.

I hope the add ons don't involve Town receiving the extra cash only if Derby secure promotion or we could be in for a long wait.

Like the look of this Jared Bowen from Hull tonight..wouldn't mind seeing him as Waghorn's replacement.

Suspect that taking the lower fee for Waghorn was necessary to finance the 2 guys from Shrewsbury. Hopefully the add ons are going to be achievable.

The necessary way of life for us.

Hopeful that Nolan will provide that link we've been missing for a long time.

Another striker will be needed.

Good stuff. Shame to see Waggy leave but it's a good deal for everyone involved. I'd love to see Tilt sign but we all know how much of a shambolic disgrace the Oyston's are at Blackpool. Got to feel for Tilt as well. He's 26 years old and only played one season in the EFL and now being denied a huge move to us.

Still would like to see if PH will get to spend all of the money we get from Wags and Webster. We will need to get a replacement for Wags in my opinion and time is running out!

I like all the links but 2.5 for Kayden is a piss take and we should hold firm on him and offer not a penny more than 2 with a small sell on or full amount with zero sell on

The Oystons really are a disgrace. I feel for Blackpool fans.

More jigsaw pieces falling into place. Wonder why Waggy opted for Derby over his home-town team - given that both bids (M'boro) were apparently equal? Better personal terms perhaps, or a preference to play for Lampard. Matters not, he goes with our thanks for his efforts, both on and off the field, during his short time with us - the perfect shop window! He and his family made great efforts to embrace Suffolk and local life. No doubt at some level they'll be sad to move on; but that's football.

The Shrews pair will undoubtedly improve us, both in quantity and quality - although appreciate time will be the ultimate judge on both those and other PH's signings - including those yet to arrive. Let's hope we can get the others over the line, and get the currently injured lads back into contention. But overall the direction of travel is positive. (Although we're not going to be held to ransome by over-excited lower league owners!)

Is the minor point that 3.5 million in used notes has gone missing and we are having to wait for the sale of waghorn to finance the shrews pair???.

I feel more for itfc fans. No investment for years yet everyone is high on life.

According to sky sports Gary Bowyer has quit Blackpool, not sure if this affect the Tilt deal.

Mr Hurst........

Please take a look at Stockley from Exeter.....scored a hat full last season and I would be surprised if he would cost the same as Jackson

Herfie… Waghorn's home town is South Shields, close to Sunderland. Middlesbrough is about fifty miles away.

@blueblood- I agree but they've put a price on him and won't sell until someone meets their price.
Wish we could have done the same instead of taking a 2-3m hit, don't forget we have to pay Rangers too, we are fekin joke when it comes to transfers and you can't blame Blackpool for taking this stance.

Nope credit to Blackpool. They obviously value their best players and have a spine and won't roll over and undersell them.. unlike Town...
