Jackson Handed First Championship Start at Sheffield Wednesday
Saturday, 25th Aug 2018 14:18

Striker Kayden Jackson is handed his full Championship Town debut as the Blues take on Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

Jackson looks set to start wide on the left with Ellis Harrison also in the team and likely to continue as the lone striker.

Tayo Edun is back from his suspension and in for Cole Skuse, who misses out due to his quad injury, but with Jon Nolan able to start despite having been a doubt with an ankle problem. Grant Ward, who started at Derby in midweek, drops to the bench.

Sheffield Wednesday: Dawson, Palmer, Pelupessy, Bannan, Thorniley, Lees (c), Nuhui, Joao, Matias, Reach, Penney. Subs: Wildsmith, Fox, Fletcher, Hutchinson, Kirby, Baker, Forestieri.

Town: Bialkowski, Donacien, Nsiala, Chambers (c), Knudsen, Chalobah, Nolan, Edun, Edwards, Jackson, Harrison. Subs: Gerken, Spence, Ward, Roberts, Sears, Downes, Kenlock. Referee: Jeremy Simpson (Lancashire).

Come on lads please cheer up my cancer ravaged body by giving us a win. My prognosis is now terminal so every game, week, point is even more precious than ever. I would love to depart this mortal coil knowing that we are heading back to the promised land playing attacking high pressing football and scoring goals for fun. Sadly (but thanks ITFC for the memories) I'm of an age where I can remember the 78 cup final, 81 cup final (first leg) and the most exciting of all the 2000 Wembley play off final against Barnsley.

Let's hope we ARE looking at something different at the end of the afternoon ; a WIN would be most welcome and set up the week ahead for every ITFC supporter !!
Really do not want more excuses , no change of system , no use of a twin spearhead or a midfield not showing up in the opposition P/B to be offered as an explanation , nor do we want to hear of ' tired ' legs ,
What we most wish is for a resurgent Town to start proving themselves to themselves AND us !

Good line up and pleased Jackson's starting. Not to bothered with the lack of goals as for the first season in a while we have 3 midfielders who look capable of scoring, 2 already have.
We need that first win though.

8 of Hurst's signing start and one on the bench. (Would like to see one of our younsters playing rather than the loans but place my trust in our manager.) COYB!

Marcusevans you put us all to shame and as has been said previously our thoughts are with you. I'm hoping that line up let's us play 4-4-2. It's a must our lone strikers aren't quite good enough in this league but 2 up front and things could well turn around.

I think it's fair to say @MarcusEvans that you've put this afternoon's match into context. My father-in-law has the same situation and so I know something of its horrors.
I wish you well mate and for me, I now want Town's win this afternoon to be YOURS!!
Thanks for sharing your situation on here and reminding us all of the stuff that REALLY matters.

Thanks again everyone, looks like a strong start from our favourite boys in blue. I think overall we are on a better path than before so I'm not 100% doom and gloom despite everything. I'm pleased that change is occurring and I'm sure that our club will emerge in a better place than it has been in the last few yesrs.
