Lambert: Everybody's Got to Be Pulling in the Same Direction Tuesday, 4th Dec 2018 22:04 Blues boss Paul Lambert called for everyone at Town to pull in the same direction at tonight’s PLC AGM in the Sir Bobby Robson Suite at Portman Road.
At a sometimes frosty meeting - towards owner Marcus Evans and the club rather than Lambert who was warmly welcomed by shareholders and praised on a number of occasions - the new boss made his call for unity after answering questions along with MD Ian Milne and Lee O’Neill, who confirmed he is taking on a role as general manager of football operations.
“This is my first time meeting you guys and I sense a little bit of animosity, a little bit towards the club and the club towards you. I sense it and can feel it,” Lambert said having asked PLC chairman Roger Finbow if he could make a concluding statement.
“As I said before, at some stage that’s got to stop everybody’s got to be pulling in the same direction or we’re never going to have success.
“The football club needs you, without a doubt it needs the fans, other working class people, we need everybody to be pulling the same way and hopefully things iron out and the club starts to [look up] rather than what’s happening at the minute.
“You’ve got a brilliant club, you’ve totally got a brilliant club, it just needs a little bit of help and everybody working together.”

Getting Paul Lambert in is a huge step in the right direction - not easy for Evans to have achieved that. Respect that on both fronts - otherwise you knockers will most definitely see the demise of this Club, many who are still stuck in the MM era. Move on - or you'll be the killers of our Club, all for the pathetic stance relating to one person. As PL has said:- We are a fantastic Club. Appreciate it as you should - as ALL True Blues will without doubt.

Rabbit. In consolidated group accounts, you are able to offset a loss from one entity in the group against the profits of another, thus reducing your taxable profits, thus reducing your corporation tax liability (i.e you don't pay as much!) I am a chartered accountant. PS, I am not for one minute suggesting that this is the reason ME is keeping hold of ITFC. I'm sure he would love us to be in the Prem too and generating the huge amounts of revenue that would bring.

Rabbit in addition to supasmiler71, if you obtain money illegally - you have to put it somewhere to be able to withdraw some of it later. It's called money laundering. I'm not suggesting that is what is going on here, but the fact so many shady characters have purchased football clubs around the globe leads to the suggestion it could be the case. We'll never really know - so you can form your own opinion of the situation and of Marcus Evans, but from a purely footballing side of things, surely you can see he's not knowledgeable enough based on his various appointments as manager and managing director. He may mean well, but should O'Neill's appointment as Director of Football (or whatever it is) is way overdue. Hopefully Lambert and O'Neill can save us from relegation this season as It's a long way back up - we're more likely to be the next Coventry or Charlton or Blackpool than the next Naaarich or Leeds or Man City

Heard this kind of " in it together" talk all too often. Marcus Evans, a businessman who took over this football club but has struggled to make any impact what so ever. Certainly does not have the supporters chanting his name. In ten years there should be a sign of good work in progress but we are just bouncing from one manager to the next. It really is not surprising the attendances will become lower as we are now staring at relegation head on . There was initially a dream, a belief that Marcus Evans was super rich and he will be the clubs savior. Yet what we really have is a distant club owner who can not face his own loyal customers.

Supasmiler thank you for your concise explanation of basic accounting practices I do know all what you say, my point is quite clear by writing off a loss against profit does not, cannot, make you better off it can only make less badly off. As for the conspiracy theory in respect of money laundering I really have nothing to add. I guess there will always be fantasists in all walks of life! I'm not saying it's not possible but until I hear that HMRC are at the door I'll just live in hope my team survives in level 2 this season.
