Town Planning German Pre-Season Trip Wednesday, 27th Feb 2019 17:11 TWTD understands Town are in the process of planning a pre-season training camp in Germany ahead of their 2019/20 campaign.
The news is little surprise with manager Paul Lambert having won the Champions League while a player with Borussia Dortmund and completed his coaches badges in Germany.
He has also previously taken his Norwich, Aston Villa and Wolves sides on German trips in pre-season.
It’s believed that a number of friendlies against opposition yet to be confirmed will form part of Town's trip.
The Blues last visited Germany in the summer of 2015 when they trained and played a friendly at Fortuna Düsseldorf, the home side winning the match 4-3.

itfchory other than the mention of Germany in 2015, which was under Mick. Well done Lambert and co, Germany is the best country for football!

It wouldn't surprise me if Town start (?) some German scouting system. Lambert seems to have contacts in that neck of the woods .

Yo! That sounds like 2nd or 3rd week of July - first week likely to be at Playford Road, then off for a training camp and a few games (which had better not be behind closed doors!). Would be awesome to be in the Austrian place that Fortuna go to, though I am not sure my liver would cope with a succession of nights out with them!

Defo gotta get Fortuna on that list. Why don't we send anyone to them on loan?
TractorCam added 17:56 - Feb 27
BlueandTruesince82, I presume you mean players, if so Fortuna are better than us, in fact currently the 12th best team in Germany!

Vorsprung durch........we're all going on the Pils! Good move by PL - can only be positive and beneficial for all making the pre-season trip. However it's organised, and whoever we meet over there, pretty sure there'll be a warm welcome. Get the bratties and currywurst ready!

Are they! Have to say I dont follow German football closely, assumed they were 2nd tier. Why don't we get anyone from them on loan?

Hope so uefacup81. Union would also be a good test. Berlin to Munich (1860 München, doubt we register on Bayern's radar), across to Düsseldorf and Cologne, then up to Hamburg to play St Pauli. That'd be a good trip. Make it happen, Paul!

TractorCam Reliable sources state that McCarthy never wanted the Pre-Season friendly against Fortuna

All good and makes a difference to the dreary Carlton house trip every year put on by MM. In conjunction with a great friend of his who happens to be CEO there.

It has to be St Pauli for a night in Hamburg and then Fortuna.

Germany sounds good. Fortuna Dusseldorf, Borrusia Dortmund and Cologne would be a great trio of clubs to visit . A real learning curve is needed. First things first, clear out the dead wood at our club and sign quality players to build a team round them. We have good young players. We need a settled squad and a regular team. Hopefully we can sign a couple of good German players sitting in a reserve team not getting a game. Please Mr Evans, no more journeymen looking for an easy wage for doing nothing.

Great news. Several stop-offs on the way back to Sweden on the cards. Bit of an eye-opener for the younger team members too, possibly. Some of that Weissbier wouldn't come amiss either. Another thing you've got right, PL.
