Judge: Hopefully We'll Talk About Future in Next Few Weeks
Friday, 1st Mar 2019 16:42

Midfielder Alan Judge says he hopes talks regarding his future will begin in the next few weeks.

The 30-year-old Irishman signed a short-term contract until the end of the season in January, which includes an option for a further season which he has previously said is “more in the club’s favour”.

Speaking in an interview for tomorrow’s match programme, Judge said: “Hopefully we will start talking over the next few weeks and we will see where it goes.

“I am really enjoying my football. I am playing in the position where I want to play. There are so many things that come into play when thinking about the future.

""“Playing games is very important to me and playing where I know I’m at my best. I don’t want to be at a club where I’m going to be stuck out on the wing.

""“The main thing here is that I’m enjoying my football. That is all I’m focused on at the moment, enjoying playing and helping the team. When the time comes to sit down and sort out what’s happening going forward, I’ll do it.”

Very important positive decision required by our owner on this one. If we let him go then that will send out a very negative message to us supporters.

Would love him to stay for a couple of years but sadly I think it will come down to money - money the club probably will be reluctant to give him if we are in League One.

Still we can all hope!

easily our best player atm. Keeping players like Keane (wages dependant), Bishop and Judge are key for us bouncing back.

Very good player but i think we've been down this road before he's only human if somebody comes in with a better offer i can see him leaving plus would he want to play in the first division i think this could be crucial .

Survival or relegation are clearly not deal breakers here, he seems keen on a deal. I think this one will happen, certainly hope so.

'There are so many things that come into play when thinking about the future.' - but the main one is does he want to play in league one!

Of course I would be over the moon if he stays, he's class on and off the ball. However, he's shown he belongs at championship level at least, seeing the bigger picture, if he decides to keep playing in the Championship having already lost so much time, I would not begrudge him that at all. Just delighted to see him getting back to his best after such a horrid injury.

He is a player that I have admired for a long time. We can build a midfield around him and he has the skill and experience to help get us out of L1 next season if we end up there. If I was the owner I would be prepared to do what is necessary to get him for the next 2 or 3 years. Fingers crossed.

hollywoodginge - I have always considered him good enough for the Premier League and was very disappointed when we did not get him at the previous attempt.

A great player, even if still not 100% fit. I was impressed when he was at Brentford.
If he does stay fit, we couldn't wish for anything better, and will be on another level in L1.
Tonnes of experience, and a perfect example to lead our youngsters and our team into a bright future.

Setting his stall out for next season. Get it done!

It's unlikely with the salary cap in L1, we'll be able to afford his wage.

Hopefully this will happen, he is pure class and is improving game by game! The good thing is he wants to play and it seems is enjoying being here.

Evans needs to make this happen! I don't think he can afford not too!

I would imagine that the contract is in our favour, I.e. we can exercise the extra year option, as long as we stay up; but that clause is null & void if we go down. To be fair to him, he would much prefer to remain in the Championship. We will need to do some serious persuading if the inevitable happens, as I'm sure other Championship clubs have noticed his form for us. Here's hoping.

This would be seen as a Marquee signing for Town. Evans has to pull it out of the bag, this Huy oozes class and quality. But with added passion and desire to win

Hopefully most of the high earners will be gone in the summer, and on the whole not worth what there paid.
Where as Judge most certainly is worth the money.
He's at the stage of career where what league he's playing in I wouldn't think is a major concern.
And the bottom line is if we paid him enough, on a long term contract and the offer of the captaincy he will stay, I'm sure.

If he's happy to play in league one sign him up he would dominate most of not all games in that league playing alongside the kids coming through it's got to be a no brainer! Over to the owner
