Released Blues Youngster Vega Signs Pro Deal at Charlton
Friday, 3rd May 2019 20:22

Released Blues youngster Luca Vega has signed a professional contract with Charlton Athletic after a trial.

As reported in March, defender Vega, 18, who had been with the Blues since the age of seven, was told he would not be offered terms at the end of this season at the completion of his two-year academy scholarship.

Vega, who spent time on loan at Lowestoft earlier in the season, subsequently began a trial with the Addicks, who the Blues could face in League One next season, playing games for their U18s and U23s, and impressed enough to win a pro deal.

Good luck to the lad, although I always thought he had the potential to be our next Drissa Diallo.

Knowing the dreadful state of our club, he is likely to develop into a better player and come to haunt us when we meet Charlton! sob sob sob

Thrilled for the lad, he probably feared his dream might be over but he's bounced back in great fashion. Best of luck at Charlton Luca, keep the dream alive!

All the best to the lad, if our acedemy is worth its salt then we want all our lads to go on and have a fruitful career whether at ITFC or elsewhere, the reality is we cannot accommodate all scholars on professional contracts or indeed hold up the progression of bright prospects when our development squad has an array of talent. Of course this will mean from time to time one of these lads will come back to haunt us but this is a risk worthy of having a successful academy.

Budgieplacker. We have not seen much talent on the pitch from this array you mentioned and how many have actually gone on with any sort of career in the past 10 years or so????? Unfortunately they are mostly overrated and get big heads listening to the people who keep saying how good they are. Next season they will have to improve by a huge margin or they should go.
